first clown eggs ever!

I've been reefing since 1997 and have had clowns and successful tanks, but if they ever laid eggs--I've not seen it! Well my two black percs have about a 2" circle of orange eggs on the overflow behind the pincushion leather that they use as a surrogate.

How long does it take for them to hatch? Not likely they'll make it with the over flow, not to mention the wrasses and hawkfish, but I did have one baby bangaii grow up!

The eggs should hatch in 10-14 days -- though I would be surprised if the first batch (( or first couple of batches )) actually hatch. Most of the time the clowns will end up eating them -- usually they weren't fertilized properly. You will be able to tell that hatching is soon because the eggs will turn silver and you will really be able to see the eyes.

The chances of them actually surviving in your tank are slim to none, and slim just left. Besides being eaten and/or going into the filter there won't be any food for them.

thanks for the info, the male is staying with them. The female ventures out further now.
