I always recommend running carbon in a Phosban Reactor. That is the best way to actively filter the water, takes up very little space, it easy to clean out and refill, and is reliable.

I'm not a fan of filtersocks, because you've got to swap them out every 3 days and clean them out. With flow and a good skimmer, most DOCs are removed from the water.

The water flowing from the refugium into the return section should be set up in a way where the outlet is half submerged, half above water. This lets the water pour out while breathing out any trapped air.

thanks, already have one reactor for rhowphos, thought might be a good addition since this tank will mainly be sps, will be able to test flow when seals comes in.
and thats how i did fuge.

UFB!!!!! You know they make medication for this!!??!! I actually have a prescription for OCD! That why I'm in this hobby!

Good Lord! you have spent more than $500 in ball valves!!

Keep the pics coming. Really nice work and I look forward to seeing it "finished."

ok been working on flow for 2 days now and think its good now. calculating roughly about 5000-5500gph going through main sump, that's two 4300SEQ return pumps dial down for main tank, 2nd fuge and frag. after that skimmer and reactor will be installed for some more fine tuning, but I know these wont be that much in flow. then chiller will be the last pump I will calculate..I wanted to test piece by piece correcting any mistake along the way..I think this should be right how I am doing things, but any suggestions would be helpful...

just read melev's post on page two about winter bring gone and snow is just melting off today here in chicago weather is crazy. But this thread is awesome love the setup and the plumbing is insane.

"Hon, reach in there and turn that valve for me, will you..? no that valve there. No, hon, that one...The one on your right. THAT one.... dang..."

....wife throws hands in the air and says "Which of the 10 on my right? Just do it yourself."...wife goes back in the house uttering explicatives about that "stupid tank"....

JK. nice job

... and then the mailman comes with the credit card bill, the wife, of course, opens it first now escalating her foul verbal tirade as he's still playing with the plumbing ... ouch!!!!

lov'n this project :)

Have you thought of labeling or color coding the tubing for purpose? It might be obvious and silly now, but trust me - there were plenty of times with radio transmission wiring I wish I'd taken a few minutes and colored the runs and stuck a diagram in the case for connections. Perhaps a little different here but still maybe a good touch.

Also, as others have said - amazing.

thank you all, and honestly my wife doesn't care what i do..she's the best sugar mama around. the only word that comes out of her mouth is "how much longer before you get done so we can go buy some fishes for the kids?"

sure sound like a good deal, but first you actually have to purchase the land then once when i see that then you got a deal.
