as i remember, those slides work best and don't flex when all the holes are drilled/screwed. I know that's just a temporary mount, right?

whoa! so you are going to have the lights slide out into the viewing room when you work on the tank?
this is just the beginning, more adjustments will be made.<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=9764606#post9764606 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by reefman13
Full setup shots, as of now?

yep ain't that kind of cool, most likely will leave vho on and turn off MH, or turn them all off except for PFO moonlights since they are so pretty, also keep in mind that this will be fully motorized. cabinet doors will probably flip open at the top for any feeding or little maintenance.

OK so I am not sure what the purpose of that is. Is it a neccessity due to lack of space in the tank room, or just to give you better access to the tank?
I have my lights on individual rails so that I can just move one at a time. My reasoning on that is so that I can keep most of the light going and not disturb the tank inhabitants as much. I am sure you realize that the halides put out some serious heat and so they will have to be shut down when you slide the lamp fixture out, and that adds to the "recovery" time since it will take a while for them to get back up to speed when you do restart them.
What grade stainless are the slides?
That's a good point- any metal suffers after a time. Probably good before you set-up your track to coat it with wd-40 or some light oil, just to make sure. The reason I ask is that I have a variety of 18-8 in my tank room because that is what is commonly available, but even though it is sld into the marine trade, it does not stand up well to a salt water environment for long.

well, that sounds interesting indeed and I understand the space issue, but I would be concerned about someone else in the house running into the light array or even burning themself.
Any idea on the grade of Stainless? The reason I ask is that I have a variety of 18-8 in my tank room because that is what is commonly available, but even though it is sld into the marine trade, it does not stand up well to a salt water environment for long.
