Wow, you sure did put some time and effort into researching before you made the plunge. Kudos for that! Have any plans for your fish selection, with that tank you should have plenty to choose from!

welcome urodoji, my chiller will be arriving next week. once when all forming are done then concrete is poured then finished my plumbing. I will take that in consideration, but all of the plumbing is inside the fish room which has 12,000 btu window unit and probably have no more than few feet plumbing outside so I don't think it will be a factor since these unit are designed for outdoor, but it doesn't hurt to add foam insulation on them. thanks

Hey Bart just doing a little back review. This was a good suggestion I think to not only reduce the heat gain but to protect the pipe from UV degradation.

If you are running other than PVC pipe and I missed it then never mind. Great work man, staying tuned for future work. Thanks for doing a great job in sharing it too.

Happy B-Day Bart:beer:

thanks, how did you manage to find out?

ok here are some more updates, since it has been raining i guess indoor working for me. hopefully weather will be good next few days so i can start on my chiller and getting concrete poured. today got a chance to build the stands for QT tank (135gal middle) and continuous water change sump (90gal below) and top shelf is for storage. QT tank will be equipped with 2 hang-on refugium w/protein skimmer (24"L x 4"W x 13.5"H). Aqua Medic 4 dosing pump will be in charge of auto top-off and continuous water changes. with 2 hang-on filters heavy feeding will be performed to get all the babies in tip top shape.

Looking great! Watch out for the Aqua Medic doser. I had to round file mine. Even though I had it installed correctly, because it only has two rollers, in certain positions it would allow flow even when off, thus over-dosing my system with top-off/kalkwasser. It caused a lot of problems! I ended up getting a LiterMeter III.

Wow...This is nuts. I need to go find a job at a car-audio/video place so I can become a better reefer...like immediately.

Great work Bart! I can't wait to see it filled with life.

my friend has one and been using for 8months now, but i will ending up getting another LM3 if thats the case. i figure its just QT tanks thats why i opted to goes with the auqamedic or i might try the reef filler one too.

I hear ya on price, but IMO it doesn't matter if it can over-dose whatever it's filling. I have heard of a few others having the same experience as me, but that doesn't mean it's the norm. I'll sell you mine if you want a deal! :)

Edit: Wait, mine is only the single unit, so that won't help you!

ok here are some more updates, and manage to get some work done after coming home. sod was removed all along the wall. using 2x4 w/3" wood screws to support the outer wall and 2x6 for inner. this was much better to support than the regular stakes sold at HD, also foam expansion joint boards will be used along the back wall and step. next brick will be spreaded out evenly at the bottom to raise wire mesh up in place than rebar will be place above the mesh which will be tied together to make it more durable since generator and chiller will add about 1500 lbs. slope is from back to front making sure so no puddles are visible and of course mosquito heaven too. slab area is 12'L x 38"W and approximately 6"-7" of concrete will be poured using concrete mixer which holds about 5 80lbs bag.

WONT YOU HAVE TO TIE IN THE WATER CHANGE SUMP. EXCUSE THE CAPS

water change sump or reservoir, dosing pump will be used so tied in wont be needed. backpacks will be used to as filtrations. QT is for fish only no rock or sand and pvc will be added for hidding features. dark blue was painted on the wall for fish so least amount of light going through the tank, stand will also be painted and 3 sides will have dark panels too making it peaceful and quiet for them.
