Great looking project. You have been staying very busy.I wish I had the time to work on mine at this rate.

thanks about 2 months or so, but i took a lot of breaks in between. just planning everything in order and things just falls in place, and i try to finished one step at a time.

ok some more updates for final preparation to be poured on sunday. concrete mixer that hold 5 80lbs bag will be used to make things a little easier. broken center blocks were used to hold mesh in place and plastic sheet.

The cinder block pieces may not be high enough. Hard to tell from your pictures, but the mesh looks a little low. I would lift the mesh as you pour in your concrete to about 2 inches from the top of where you plan to finish your concrete. By having the mesh in the top of the slab, it should stop the surface from skrinking and cracking. Its not a definite solution, but it does help.

I've been following your thread for quite a while now. I like your attention to detail. Everything looks real good.

P.s, dry materials do not fill the same area as wet materials. Always allow multiply your dry materials by 1.3 to = 1. This means that if you had 1.3m3 of dry materials, you would only get 1m3 when mixed with water. This is a metric measurement, but should be close in imperial. I'd hate to see you run short 2/3 of the way through your pour ;)

Cheers

Chris.

thanks chris, i was planning on doing that when concrete was being poured. the blocks is about 3-4" below the surface.this project was said to take about 38 80lbs bags, but i bought 48 just to be on the safe side. i always buy more than i need simply because i dont like to be short on anything. any updates on your project?

Good to hear that your thinking ahead wisely. A lot of people get concrete wrong.

I have a nano compared to yours  roughly 55 galls. I am only new to the marine side of the hobby, but I'm trying :)
I've been off work sick for quite a while now, but am slowly recovering. The only upgrades I've made of late is to add 4 6025 nano streams. They are reasonably priced in Australia, and so far so good. My set-up was to see If I would be sucessful, so Now I am looking to start adding some corals :D

I hope to start building myself a new house this year, just waiting for settlement. I am incorporating a fish room and, after seeing so many great tanks on this site, I will be doing the same :D :D :D You don't have copyrights on your tank do you?

Cheers

Chris

lol copyrights, if that's the case everyone is probably involved. i am new to this too and great to hear how your setup is doing. the way i look at it doesn't matter how big or small any system is, its still considered a tank. thanks Chris

I think I missed something:confused: .....What is the concrete being poured for? I want to say for a generator....but I don know.

Good job, Awesome chiller.

With all the activity at your house do the neighbors wonder what you're up to?

8 AM, on a Sunday morning? And you're running a cement mixer?

Your neighbors must really love you!

tell him you are building an Ark, and if he wants to ride, keep quiet!

 for now i will be his friend.

WOW..what a difference in size & design between a 1 HP & 1 1/2HP chiller from Tradewinds. I'm glad that I went with the 1 HP. Your building codes must be pretty slack. A unit like that would have to sit 3 ft from the house up here, same with the generator. Because of the neighbors lot line, and the fact that it runs on natural gas, I was forced to set my generator in the back corner of my yard. Looking good...you must be close to being able to fill the system once you get your plumbing to the chiller up and running:thumbsup:
