I was thinking about couple of heaters but didn't know what brand is good

Based on my experience (and many others), I wouldn't use anything less than a high-end titanium heater element and an Aqua Logic or Medusa controller. This is a serious point of failure and I have read many stories of heater-related disasters. In a system the size of yours, these issues are a bit mitigated, but most of what is sold in hobby stores is pitifully inadequate.

I went with 4x Finnex (500W) Titanium Heaters (2x on a Medusa Dual Stage Digital Controller and 2 on my Aquatronica Controller)...

CB I love your equipments and I can't wait to see the tank with livestocks. Great you started this thread. I thought you gonna wait to stock your tank first before starting a build thread as what you mentioned to me.

i wanted to received my tank first before thread was started, but thanks xinumaster..how's your tank and did you fix the water drip problems and your pump...

Hi CB, yes I manage to fixed the water leak. However, I still have problem with the barracuda pump. The pump has been running almost 72hrs already but it is still too loud -- suppose to break-in for 48hrs. I might give it a week before I call MDM tech support and ask them to replace it.

Check my thread I just added some fish last Friday.

what are the other parts you have ordered as seen in the photos, is this better to maintain than Neptune system. so on every two heaters need one controller and additional accessories is that how it works..I guess it's better to have multiple heaters than 2 1000w or even 1 2500w so in case of heater failure..

Correct. If anything, have two or three heaters (or more) in your system. That way if one sticks on, it doesn't have the juice to cook the tank. My reef has three. Usually two, but in the winter I add a third one to help.

Guess it's time to unplug that guy today. Winter is gone.

Hey Shawn, got the full boat on the Aquatronic? What is your impression of it so far?

Also, how about the Finnex? The box looks exactly like the Jalli boxes I got. So far out of 4 heaters and 3 Jalli controllers, one heater has broken and one controller has broken. Not many mid-range heaters left on the market. All are either really cheap or very expensive!

ok thanks Marc just looking into getting some, but I want to make sure I will be buying something that least last me awhile instead of buying them again down the line...I was looking into those aquatronic also instead of Neptune which I think are over price, aquatronic looks like they offer a pretty good setup. I will do some more homework before buying more or any additional info or suggestions would be helpful.

tradewind 1.5hp, I plumb this CL from main display tank hope this would be a good idea, I was thinking with the heaters--2 pc's in main sump and 2 pc's in water change sump, let me know if this would be a good idea..

May i suggest finding an alternative to the finnex, I've had multiple of them die, and this last one just popped and electrocuted my tank

mammothreefer-all suggestions and any helpful tips in building my system better with up to date equipments will be greatly accepted, as stated I am new to this hobby with only 2 months of experience, and so many new equipments out there, I am still learning the process and parts. also send me a link for your thread, thanks.

To be honest I'm looking for an alternative as well, I still have 2x500w I'm still using but keeping an eye on my, 800w popped and electrocuted my tank a couple weeks ago. There is a thread in the Lighting, Filtration, Equipment Section about Finnex heaters. Somebody did post an alternative but I'm waiting to read feedback on people using those heaters before I run out and buy them.

Wow this is looking like a great project. Thanks for sharing I can't wait to see what I learn from this thread. Looks great.

thanks, still missing some equipments, co2 regulator which will be the best and most reliable out there.
