I had double joint the 2x4 front, back, middle and sides. then had 1" foam, seen it done LFS. also will coat with marine resin. do you still think its ok or should go ahead 3/4" plywood because then I will have to coat the bottom and humidity problems in new orleans is so high, since the tank are set above each other.

It would be good to see a pic but what it seems to me you are describing is having the tank rest on the stand frame with a middle brace and I think that is risky. I would NOT do it myself. I know adding the plywood is a lot more work but with a glass tank in particular, failure becomes a much higher probability.

Foam doesn't offer any rigidity or real stength but if the tank is nano sized, it might be OK. Using an LFS as an example is a mistake IMO. They generally try to keep costs down as low as possible and cut a lot of corners. (and they usually have floor drains)

If you can afford to Line-X your stand (which is sweet BTW), then you can put a little extra into accessory stands. The stouter the better! In fact in some cases like my fuge, I built the stand larger than the tank so that I could use the area for setting containers on, etc. and to give me the option of installing a larger tank later on if needed.

Maxcap RO/DI haven't got a chance to install it yet, but will let you know how that goes. could I install 15gal tank for top/off and gravity feed to deltec kalk stirrer so additional pump will not be needed, just trying to decide on how to build my rack. along with all my other equipments, i am starting from the one side of the garage and working my way in.

15g tank for top off on your system is too small IMO. You may go through 15g/day in evap. in your location! Curently I evap. about 11g/day and I have my 96g RO/DI holding tank plumbed to the LiterMeter II as well as the SW mixing tank.

ok finally done with the stand for weekend, starting on all equipment next and wanted to know if I should feed my skimmer and fluidized reactors along with overflows, then gravity back to sump or should I run skimmer and reactor on pump...and if I did run pump on them and is it possible to plumb them with overflows also but with ball valves so just in case the pump loses power, then I switch ball valve off that running on pumps and letting overflows take over for the mean time when pump will be returning back to me....this is just me thinking of this scenario for fail safe and is it safe to something like that.. also have 200gal reservoir for ro/di tank and is it ok to leave outside the house instead of taking more room in my garage, completely covered with removable lid.

nice to have lot sof room to work with. I wouldn't leave the RO/DI tank outside unless it is well sealed. That is one heck of a stand!

cbui2- Why did you paint the 3 sides of your tank? Why not use removable black panels instead, so you can see what's going on from the backside. Maybe I missed something......

things look to be coming along nicely. I think that stand will be here with the cockroaches after a nuclear war. Well done!

cbui2 - Great pictures of the new stand. I'm having a little trouble trying to understand what you are asking regarding the plumbing of the skimmer and the tanks. Can you explain further?

sweet... lookin good.....I hear you about not wanting to loose too much room. I would go with the external ro storage. Like everone said just make sure it is sealed good. I have a 3 car garage and it is still not enough room for me.

figure 2x4 is so cheap 1.99 i can used as many as i need, also i have purchase a 200gal ro/di holding tank that will be installing outside backyard but it is completely sealed with 8" twist lid, didn't want to have more equipment in garage if not needed , but would this be a good idea, thanks

well since all viewing will be done inside the house, and didn't want to view tank from the garage, also just giving it a try since just paint, i can always removed it anytime, thanks. i am also building sliding light rack and will have access in front or rear.

judging by 3 tank 135gal fuge, 100gal frag, 180gal w/c sump, at 8lbs per gal, about 3300lbs total with live stock so wood is cheap but labor isn't lol, thanks

was trying to feed skimmer and reactor two ways, all tied together, here hows it goes,

1. pump to skimmer-fluidized reactor and gate valve of course and also T from overflows on the same run equipped with ball valve are turn off when pump are running,

2. when pump do goes out, since nothing is bullet proof knock on wood. just to make sure my system can still be running without having to wait for pump to be return from manufacture, a little more work in plumbing for a small price to pay...also i want to run this system problem free as possible without having to wait for any parts if was to get damaged and livestock will still be able to go on with the use of equipment from overflows to mechanical filtration...i am pretty sure i am not the first to think of this since they are so many experience reefkeeper out there, thanks again and if any addtional comments will be helpful.

Looking very nice. How much room do you have for lights on the triple stand for the refugium and prop tank?

fuge tank has 10", frag has 7" but since it was staggered any part of the tank is accessible without having to move tank, w/c has 7" and also staggered

ok here's the progress for the weekend just pass, up til 7am sun, 4am mon, and tues 5am tues. would have gone longer, but neighbor came over and knock on my door and ask me please give it a break, so i said sorry will do until tommorrow. lol

even extra strength visine can't help me now

HD again today, additional plywood, electrical and finishing touches trim work but before any of those work is performed, what kind of marine applications is used to prep wood for longevity.

needed to test fit some equipment and of course couldn't wait to open some of these boxes up, x-Xmas in march for me, LoL.

section where skimmer, calcium, fluidized reactor, co2 tank and kalk mixer

Wow! You definitely get the prize for Stand Madman!! Totally wild.

That ZRO/DI storage tank is sweet. Can you post or PM with dimensions, make & model number, and where you got it? I really could use something like that...
