OK. so as some may have seen, I picked up two tangs from Kennedy in alabama. Here they are in their present locations getting acclimited to temp and water. What magnificent creatures they are. to give perspective, the Sohal is in a Oceanic salt bucket. the other is just a household bucket but has a oval shape.

yea man. no kidding they are both swimming in the DT now. the sohal has found several holes and caves he can swim thru and the naso just does what they do best. leisurly pace from one end to the other looking for current.

only the moonlights are on so I can see them, but WOW. they are HUGE. swimming side by side, they are a very pretty sight. cannot wait for the lights tomorrow afternoon.

I promise to take some when the lights come on. as of this morning they are doing what Tangs do. the Naso lazily back and forth and the Sohal riding the currents from one end to the other. stopping on each end to chew on the rocks. I will say this right now. the 180 is most likely too small for a Sohal of this size. while he isnt looking stressed at all, you can tell that he wants to "Just Keep Swimming". and likely the agression will come out due to that fact. we shall see and hopefully I will have an exception rather than the norm.

One funny thing from last night. once the moonlights were off, I came in and checked on them. both tangs had decided to cram themselves in the far corner of the tank with the poor clownfish. It was like putting two great danes in bed with my 2 year old in his toddler bed! very funny. and the kitten is now obsessed with the Sohal.

what are the steps in which you acclimate your livestock? Why the chato or cheeto or whatever its called in the bucket?

The cheato was in the guy's sump. when we put the fish in the buckets, they werent very happy. I put the Cheato in there as I needed some for the tank, and also to give them something to "hide" in. It was neat, before I put that in, they were sucked down to the bottom corner of the buckets. I threw in that little ball and they immediately perked up and hoverd next to it. For this size of fish, it worked out very well. I stuffed the cheat balls in my overflows for now so they get light and can grow. eventually they will be relocated to the sump somewhere. Got a bonus too with teh tiny baby brittle seen with the Naso.

as for acclimation, I had these guys sitting in the sump to get temp aclimated. over the next hour, every 20 mins, I put 2 cups of water in with them to get them used to my water. the naso was perky the entire time, the sohal was still very cautious in the bucket. onc the Naso demonstrated he wanted out, I poured down his water and then put the sohal in that bucket and then carried them inside where they were netted and released into the DT. Hard to put these fishes in a small QT.

Nice Fish, Hope they do well as they are very big, Your Purple Tang came by for a visit last night on his way to his new home. They had to remove all the rock from the tank to catch him Anthony said, But all is well and the fish keep moving on!
On another note I like that one tank one pump approach to reefing due to the power Co's attitude towards taking my money, Lots of it!
If you get down this way I still have a couple of frags to give you, Stylo, Pink Pocillapora to start you off.

Thanks Kaleb. Ill post a video here soon. the Purple bill spoke of I had for 5 years. AWESOME fish. Bill, glad you got ot say hello to him. I dont doubt they had to empty it. that was a very healthy fish and perfect sized for the hobby.

Wild Sohal Tang can grow to 16" in*an aquarium*the adults will normally grow from 7" to 10". My old one is in the aquarium at opry mills and she is 9.5" after the may flood. Now she's at the TN aquarium.

Those are some sweet tangs! Your purple says hello Lindsey! The purple and tomini are swimming along and doing great. They are pigs. I picked up some brine shrimp and gut loaded them with Amino acids. The tangs went NUTS! The corals loved them as well.
