since your in Columbia Station i suggest you go see Greg at Aqua. Tech. take the fish or a picture along---he is good at detecting and treating fish disease. you are getting in the danger zone IMO with sg. at 8.5 / 9 you may want to stay in the 10 /11 zone. is the fish acting normal? is it eating? if so are you supplementing his food with vitamins? are these SPECKS / SPOTS only on the rear of the fish ? what is the tank water PH and temp? a lot of questions but need to get the treatment correct for a succesful out come.

That's from the hypo........I've seen it before, more than once. Usually most fish don't show this but these lesions (sometimes raised white spots) occur near the end of the treatment or if you go past 60 days. Not all fish will show these signs.

If he's eating fine & acting normally otherwise, I wouldn't worry aobut it. If he stops eating then you're going to have to raise the salinity back up. Just make sure you do it slowly & over 2-3 days.

well this is the 2nd time he has gone through hypo.... the first time i had hime in for 5 weeks after the ich fell off. i put the fish back in the DT and he got ich within 3 days. so i put them back in the QT tank for a week. then i lowered them back down to hypo.

this is the 2nd week they are in hypo.


there is 1 dot on the lateral line towards his head, that one is white.

there are 4 on the back of the lateral line by the tail that are yellowish.


all of these are only on one side.



oh, and he swims around like normal and still eats like a pig. none of the other fish have any of these signs.

I wouldn't worry then.............just stick to the treatment schedule.
Once your back to normal salinity the spots will go away in a week or two.

I've had what you experienced happen to me once. I had to do a double treatment. You gotta make sure that your salinity stays consistently at 1.009-.08. Make sure you keep up with evaporation.

What are you using to measure salinity? You should at least have a refractometer. Even still, I would double check it's acccuracy against another refractometer or a salinity monitor.
