Fish game plan...

I would vote for a torch or frogspawn as well... much less tempermental and you can frag them eventually and share with everyone :)

I would nix the anemone! I just lost my foxface to 1 Sunday. I got rid of the killer yesterday (not to worry he want back to the lfs).
I bought a coral beauty yesterday and he looks great in the tank and does'nt bother the other fish. Also a cleaner wrasse is a good pick too.
Murph

If the condy got him he was sick and/ or dieing. Your foxface was too big for him to bring down. Before returning him to the LFS post it here first you will probably be able to get money or a great trade. I would have traded for the condy, they are hardy and cool.

Read about the Torch coral and seems to be a winner. Only about a week for my tank to finish it's cycle. I think the scale was off when i bought my rock cuz i supposedly have 90lbs and it's really open. I'll have pics up soon.

Thats not good either, you paid by the pound!

Don't go nuts adding a lot of fish. As the bio-load increases you may cycle a couple of times. New tanks do this so add the fish slow so your tank can keep up.

u could b cool like me and be subtracting fish...its simple too..come come from work n oh look two more down lol (srry im being an EMO nemo)

Will do. Only the B&W + Nemo Osc. for first fish. prolly wait nother month to add more. The Torch Coral would be next anyhow.

I would personally get the frogspawn first. That would allow it time to get accustomed to the tank before your clown try to invade it. Just long enough to get over shipping stress, etc..

Stick with a couple hardy corals, a frogspawn (check your calcium), maybe a toadstool, or a colt, or a finger leather. Just get a couple in there, and give em a week or so before you put nemo in. In all likelyhood, the clowns will host in a powerhead, or below your overflow, or somewhere stupid. But give it a shot.

At my undergraduate school we had a pair of clowns hosting a nice patch of hair algae... they would chase the herbivourous fishes away whenever they tried to eat it :P

Well, I don't think you have to pay top dollar for a so called mated pair of clown fish. When they are small and young, they are ambi-dextrous switch hitters. If you get two juveniles of different size, they will choose a sex based on their comparative size. the larger will become female and the smaller one , male. then they hang together. but as far as mating, that takes a lot more special conditions.

I did that with my two ocelaris , bought them real small, like an inch and one a quarter inch longer. They are inseperable. Ive had them about 5 years now, but no spawning that i can tell. Just cool, fat, happy fish.

Ken, I wouldn't be surprised if they spawn in your tank and you never see it, lol. I wouldn't be surprised if you found the titanic sunk behind some of your big @S$ corals, lol.

I've been planning on trying to get mates for both of my clowns. After today I will have holding tanks I could put fry in as well.(ran the plumbing last night, but waiting to test them when I will be in the room for a little while)

I bought the salt water test kit but not the reef test kit... Could i buy just missing tests individually?

Sure can, most LFS sell the text kits separately. I prefer the salifert and seachem test kits.(either or there is good and bad things about both)

If you are testing anything make sure to read the directions carefully and make sure you understand your results before you start dumping in chemicals. Would probably be a good idea to talk about it here and/or in the chemistry forum before you take action.

Ok what about star fish... Emo is telling me certain ones i shouldn't get. Is he talking about ones that eat corals or is there something else i haven't read. I plan on getting a blue or orange Linckia Starfish (Reef-safe). Just to have something besides my corals in the tank when my wife gets home.

that may be true Gordo, thefront of my tank is so coverevd with coraline i cant see what the nemos are doing. or if they ar hatching eggs. but no fry floatin around.

Don't get a star, it will likely die. Get a couple of shrimp, they'll move around, and give the tank a little life. Hold off on the star until things stabilize.

Will do i only want corals in there for a bit my cycle is pretty much done just waiting for the lil bit of nitrites to dissipate before i do a water change.
