Fish Identification

Hey Reefers,

I've seen the guys on the TV show "Tanked" use these fish in several of their tanks, does anyone know what they are? (Btw I hate how they set up their tanks with fake corals it drives me nuts!)

I really want one/a few. They seem to school or pair and there are always several swimming together in their tanks. Look to be about 2-5 inches in length.

Thanks!

Yes that is a Golden Trevally and it is probably one of the worst fish to put in an aquarium. Considering that this fish grows to FOUR FEET in length, it is another perfect example of the ineptitude of ATM (unless it's in a several thousand gallon tank).

Haha figures, what a bunch of blockheads. Pretty fish though [emoji12]

That show is ridiculous, if not outright criminal. There is not the slightest consideration about the needs or the welfare of the fish.
Also the way how they set up tanks an dump the fish in without the slightest cycling is just wrong. I wonder how all those tanks look a few months later. Likely empty because all the fish have succumbed to diseases. Or they keep them dosed with low levels of copper all the time.

And who the hell is still using dead (or fake) corals? I thought they went out of style in the mid 70s - at least that was the case in Germany when life rock started to become available.

Pilot fish like everyone mentioned above. They are some of the only fish that actually school in our tanks but will grow between 2-4 ft. Max size is listed at 48"
