I have been going to FP since it is open. After Matt's arrival, there are good improvements in the marine fish and coral sections. Currently, they are working on two huge frag tanks I ever seen in LFS's.

I think people should be allowed to speak freely about their HONEST opinion in this forum. Afterall this is our freedom of speech. If a LFS sucks, it is their fault, not ours. I would like to know the good and bad things happening in town. If only cheap viral marketing is allowed, it will diminish the integrity of the information here.

Hi, I'm completely new to this site altogether and I think there is way to much drama in this discussion about a flippin fish store. Boo hoo, ONE guy is terrible at customer service and happens to work there, you cant then say the entire business has bad service. And I know the guy personally that was just hired to completely turn that place around. He's completely changing the poorly run and poorly maintained fish store into a competitive reef store to be noticed in the Sacramento area. I give it about 6 months until Fish Planet will be turned into another great place to go in the Central Valley for exotic coral and competitive priced reef related products. If Your Reef, Exotic Aquarium, and all the other exotic suppliers of stony coral in the Sac. area expect to compete, they'll have to start lowering their prices and start being more flexible on dry goods and technical merchandise. Mark my words; Fish Planet will be the new go-to place in the Sacramento area within no time, count on it.

The whole LFS "gossip" sticky has me a little peeved personally.....oh yeah, that the first thing I want people to see about the MARS club, a bunch of gossip and complaining about "how bad we have it."

I puts a bad vibe all of the rest of the forum and to me, personally I would think it was a gossip forum rather than a bunch of concerned reefers.

If running a fish store is so easy, why doesn't this group offer thier time free of charge to work in these establishments and "show" them how its done!!!

If you have enough time to generally criticize and bash other peoples hard work......you have enough time to do something about it.

So get off your butts and do something about it......better yet, throw your tanks online and let me tell you what YOU are doing wrong.

Just like your own tanks..........stores take time to build, not everyone has money comming out of the waazoo.

So whats Yourreef doing this weekend, (probably right now), giving you better tanks to look at.......

You guys are so dammed concerned about what people come on here for stating opinions and crap. Why even have a forum with the way you want to control peoples posts.

Ive been with this club for over 2 years, Ive seen people get more and more rude and higher than almighty attitude than any other club ive been to.

If you guys are so worried about the LFS thinking Mars is bashing them, Then post a damn disclaimer at the top. "individual posts and threads are not the views or concerns of MARS club or BOD."

This is a club forum provided by RC..... ANYONE IS WELCOME to say what they want and how they want, as long as it falls within the T&A. You want people to share their good experiences but not their bad. Sounds a little Dictating to me!


Take it with a damn grain of salt, obviously this person felt they had justification to post this. Its like one person says something bad about the group or someone in the group you guys turn into little gang thugs and have each others back.

Ive seen plenty of experiences here, Ive been through my own. Do you notice how alot of the REGS arnt posting any more. How some people you guys use to give slack to dont post anymore. Ya that makes a club look real great.

You guys got other issues to worry about then someone coming on here and posting. I didnt read what happened about JOJOS son, but knowing how some of these people on here. I can probably say assuringly that it probably wasnt good.

I am also sure that the LFS have way more to do than to come on the forums and read what people are saying...

If they are so worried about it, then they should be working on making the employees fully trained and knowledgeable.

If they cant understand the fact that this is a PUBLIC forum and Thousands of people alone come to the Mars Forum. Then they have other issues they need to deal with!

Edwin, I was in a LFS today and they asked me if I had seen the latest drama with you on on "Grief Central". This forum was not created to be a gossip column. That's what many of the 'regs' got tired of.

As Dots said, these threads usually start with someone fairly new to the board and it becomes aparent that they are just spouting off. Nothing good comes of them, they are not constructive.

JOJOBME's son was not trashed. He asked for a critique and he got honest opinions. That poor tang looks near-death thin and has no place in a nano tank or a 55. He didn't like those opinions. Mom didn't either and proceded to start yet another trash-talk thread that went south. That does not promote the hobby or best interest of the club.

I don't see anything wrong with the information provided to him on what would be best for the "fish" in his care.. I meet him recently he is a good kid but that dosent mean that he shouldn't be warned bout the fish he keeps. Its a learning experience that we all go through. There was few people who blew the advice out of wack, but other then that there was great feedback and good comments on his tank.

On this current topic, i think honest opinions are great but choose your words wisely. Its hard to tell over the internet how peoples comments come across to others. I don't think you can judge a place or person on one visit or encounter. If things are same throughout your experience maybe first thing to do is bring it up with someone who can do something about it rather then us who have no control over what they do and don't do. If someone said hey whats your experience with so n so then i feel people should be able to speak freely without people putting them down. I just wouldn't start a thread saying man this place sucks. This is a mars forum and thus people need to take that into account before posting stuff that might not be the same point of views of thus the contributing members here, which may result in conflict that the club most likely doesn't want or need. Alot of it just results in over reactions among alot of good people here. Im am not a member yet and have been more then well welcome here over the past year or so i've been posting in this forum. Hope we can all get past these kind of threads and move on to better times!
