fish sick - help

My Atlantic is sick - all of a sudden in less than 24hrs he went from normal to this

any suggestions in our out of the tank would help

Not sure what it as but it consumed him before I could get medicine this morning. He looked worse this morning but was alive - when I got back from the store with Melafix he was dead. From normal to whitish covering to dead in about 24 hrs total.
Much thanks to blugobi and st james of reefdom for the suggestions and care.
I did notice some strange behavior about 48 hrs before he died - mostly hanging out in a different part of the tank than he used to. I should have reacted then.

Thanks everyone. Amazaing transformation in a short time. He was beautiful and I got him in the final changes of his adult transformation. Only thing I can figure is one of two things:
I had something on my hands and infected the fish
or
the day before he started acting strange I was cleaning the detritus off the bottom of the tank - I may have stirred something up and that infected a scrape or something on him.
He had what appreaded two different things wrong - small white growths - probably fungus and the dark red lesions you see in the pic. Whatever it was it was fast.
