Fish Store Tour - Bay Area

KMP

Wag More; Bark Less
I'm planning a fish store tour for next weekend in the Dublin/San Jose area. Why Dublin and San Jose - well, a month ago when I went on a Bay Area tour I was surprised to see locks on Mermaid Aquariums doors and Aquarium Concepts was half dismantled pending their new opening in Dublin.

I have the new address for Aquarium Concepts. Does anyone have the new address for Mermaid Aquarium?

Thanks.

...or any information on the fish store that's in Rocklin?

I'm creating a list for stores in Sac, SF, and San Jose area. When I'm done, I'll send to anyone that wants it.

ok, i found the store in rocklin - aqua life aquarium. got all the info except store hours if anybody knows please post.

thanks bkmorris.

i'm leaving early in the morning - 10 stops. anyone have an address for mermaid aquarium that moved to san jose?

thanks kevin. i was going to try that when we got in the area. might have to drive by the dang place. don't really want to do that since we have a busy day already - we'll see.

wish you could have gone buddy. we'll do it another day.

well, luckily i copied what info i could from there website last week. it's down now. called the old number and got the new number.

for those i sent a list to - the new number is 408.712.3845 (mermaid aquarium).

you would think since their website is down and you can't find them in the directory that their answering machine would say, "thanks for calling - we've recently moved to ......"

no such luck. i'll have to wait until they open.

kevin i'll keep an eye out. anything in particular you are looking for?

Mermaid Aquariums core business has been and always will be service and custom set ups. They moved into a warehouse to persue being mainly service oriented. Max has talked about opening up on the weekends, but nothing like what he had planned (large LFS in San Jose).

^ that's interesting. because when i stopped by the store being taken down a month and a half ago it had a picture of the new place which had a showcase store front. not what i'd expect for a place just maintaining tanks. i wish they would open back up, that place was really nice.

anyway, competed the journey today.

ocean treasures - very nice store and if you havent' been, you should. that said, it's a little off the beaten path if i were to visit my favorite bay area stores. unfortunately we got there right after they recieved a shipment of dry goods so we didn't spend much time as they were closing the doors to sort it out. owner was nice enough to let us mingle for 5 mins. wish my buddy could have seen the basement as kevin and i did a while back. incredible system/set up.

natrual life aquatics - nice clean store. limited selection. if i lived in the local area i would swing by but being from woodland i don't see the need to take the extra time if i'm on a trip to the bay area.

dolphin pet village - neat store. not just fish - actually, right now there isn't any fish - but they do have lots of dry goods. they have a very large back area they are setting up (recently moved to this new location). will definately be worth another trip once they are set up. they have lots of reptile stuff even bunnies.

reef fraz - not a store, private seller. picked up a lot of really nice zoa's. hied was very nice and if i ever am in the area i will stop buy to see what he has.

aquatic gallery - love this store. packed! but lots of nice stuff. fish carry a higher price than most stores but some of the corals are very competitive. almost every tank looks like a display tank. i cannot go to the bay area without stopping at this store.

aquarium concepts - wow! when kevin and i with a month and a half ago it was 1/2 dismantled and moving to dublin. well now their 3/4 set up and it's huge! again, this is a must go every time your heading to the bay store.

stores i didn't get to see and will be on the next trip - all about fish in concord and new alameda aquatics in alameda.

Why did you not go to atlantis? That is always on my list for collector corals and high end stuff.

Kevin and I stopped there on our last bay area trip, which was the second time for me - first at their old location and this last time at the new. Folks seem to be fonder of them than I am - which leaves more of their stock for you :D
