I have a rabbit fish and has been fine for awhile he starting doing some twitching earlier. The last 1 hr he is pulling air from aboove water then passing through his gils. Anyone know what this is a sign of? Temp 83.6 ORP 319 PH 8.36 SALT 1.26..

Sounds like what my athias did the other night. I just gave him a formalin bath and all was good. I figured it was flukes.

If you go to the fish store and ask for formalin or i use Seachem's
Paraguard. It is a little safer than straight formalin and works the same. Just follow the directions on the bottle and just keep an eye on the fish. I put mine in there for 1 hour as long as things are good. This poor guy i had went in not looking good at all. And as soon as he came out all was great. That was 4 days ago. He was feeling so much better he jumped out of the cup and did some carpet surfing before i could get him back in the tank...lol:)

Bump... Any other input? I shut all lighting and the fish looks fine in his usual place behind a rock.. Should I go crazy in the morning for a QT tank and medication or wait abit more?

fish is still in the main tank. I dont have a QT but was going to get one tommorow. I have had it for 1 week or so from a member in my local forum. I have seen there tank and it is very well maintained... Something I did different today I thought of is I feed him a piece of lettuce.....

i would keep a eye on mine for now and maybe ask the person you got him from if the fish had any prior outbreaks of any disease, my bannerfish is always twitchy one and a while i finally chaulked it up to normal behavior

The people I got him from said he can be a bit wierd... He has done that after eating which I did feed him today direct. I am doing some water tests at the moment....
Thanks for your input...
