Just wondering if anyone knows what would cause a fish to have Cloudy eyes. Had this fish over 18 months. It grew from a 2 inch to a 5 inch monster and no other fish has gotten cloudy eyes.

Cloudy eyes are a sign of disease... it could be Ich or flukes, or could be something else. Hard to pin point without seeing behavior and knowing what the last wet thing added to the tank was

It had them for 12 months and no other fish got them. I have 50 Fish in the tank. If it's a disease why haven't any other fish got them. ?

You sound upset, I guess if I had 50 fish in my tank, I would be alarm...I would be scare that I lost the rest of my fish! Just as curious as you what could it be. But I'm more curious why you didn't name the type of fish. But in another f/s thread your selling the very same fish..lol

Firstly, take the fish out of your DT and out him in a QT until you can find out what's wrong hopefully you can get him better before you sell him to someone else.

Not alarmed at all. Not giving the fish away out of fear , I am selling my 60 gallon frag in basement and will be adding my 4 yellow tangs and 2 mata tangs to the tank.
I am now giving it away for free to a good home after realizing the eyes might be an issue one

I posted it so I can understand why. If I had bad intentions why would I post. Also you can always qt the fish when you get it Anyone who has been over my house knows my fish have been in my tank for a while

Looking to understand what it is. Not qt this fish or my other Fish. No reason too imo. If it's your opinion that is ok we all opinions. I feel after all my experience in this hobby my opinion means something. By no means do I know it all

Of course everyone opinion is valid. And in 15 years that I have been in this hobby doesn't make me an expert. Anthony it's cleary you have a concern, otherwise you wouldn't be reaching out to the members here on this forum. Anyhow we hope you come up with s solution and share it with us.

Every time you ask a question means your concerned. I am telling you I could care less about the eyes. It doesn't concern me at all. Fish grew from 2 inch fish into 5 inch monster. I have added like 15 fish after with only 2 deaths but both by suicide . Maybe the fish has cataracts. Maybe when it was in my refugium with all the caluripa something rubbed both eyes or Msybe it does have a disease. But after a year if no other fish getting why would you be scared I am not.
I have way to many fish I will slow rot be selling the ones I don't like the best.

With exception to cloudy eyes (which does denote generally diease) has the fish shown any changes in the normal behavior patterns, i.e., swims normal, eats normal, colour normal?
Usually fish diease is accompanied by other symptoms, issues or changes in behavior.

No the fish is active and eating normally It has had this issue over 16 months

Could it be possible it had something and fought it off naturally
Plus if disease why wouldn't any other fish get it. ? Also are they any disease that cause it that woukdnt be very contagious

I'll be honest, I don't know what it is, not all disease is contagious, and if it's been 16 months, this does not sound like a contagious diease.
If this is the only thing and it's been 16 months, I would do nothing at all, provided he/she seems happy and going about business as usual.
Feeding healthy protein rich foods is the best defense for on the on set of any dieses, just like people.
Must be able to see fine if eating.....

So the eyes have been cloudy for over 16 months now? At this point in time I wouldn't even worry about it, especially being that the fish is eating well and behaving normally. It is what it is and there's really no point in rocking the boat IMO.

The most common reason for "cloudy eyes" in saltwater fish are, poor water conditions, a lack of vitamin A in the foods fed, and low PH.

I do agree with the above, do nothing, but if you want to try and solve, make sure your doing the above three most commons, and if you want to try an antibiotic, if used correctly, may solve the problem. It's always better to do it the natural way, but the choices are yours.

Good luck

Back to your corners kids....

I think I handled that very well.

All I am saying to all those who think it's a disease and I need to treat. I understand your logic. But how can over 50 other fish in 18 months not be affected if it's a disease. Least write and educate-well thought out response like uncle did

Thank you uncle

Wanted to pick the minds of other seasoned educated fish enthusiasts. Wasn't scared about the fishes health

It is not necessary, nor recommended to try to offer a public defense when an Administrator has removed your post. Let. It. Drop.

And since you have apparently gotten everything you can from this thread, it's closed.
