flagfins and dragonface plus anenome?

i've never had any trouble with flagfins, 'nems, and LPS. flagfins pretty much stick to the water column.

i know a person who kept DF's with stinging corals, and he never had any problems. in fact, i've seen pix of DF's sitting in Euphyllia, but i've never kept them, so i can't give you firsthand info.

The only thing holding me back from a few dragonface pipefish is my large haddoni. I may try a few if you guys think they will avoid the anemone in a larger tank.

well my DF pipes were always near my Euphyllia garden and never had any issues. i dont know about nems though

i do not have a Haddoni. I do have a GBTA. I have some euphyllia which 3 of my bangaii cardinals host. A nem is considerably more sticky. Think a DF is okay?

Why are the pipefish safe with Euphyllia but not seahorses?

we're not talking ALL pipes here, just flagfins. flagfins don't hitch or slither, they're a swimming family of pipes, so they stay in the water column.

the person i mentioned really dotes on his DF's and doesn't seem to be having any trouble with the Euphyllia, so the "party line" answer is don't mix them, so i think it's possible. however, if it were me, and i took the time and trouble to wean them and get them eating frozen, i'd err on the side of caution.

in the end, it's up to you as to how much you want to push the envelope, and what your risk tolerance is. pipe keeping is in its infancy, much like SH keeping was 6 years or so ago when i began keeping Syngnathids, and there has been a tremendous amount learned in that time, so if you do try it, good or bad, let us know about the experience.

That hadonni will eat whatever it gets its tenticals on. All it would take is one mistake by that pipefish and it's a gonner. The same for any fish though but, the fish are more efficient swimmers.
