Flame tip, save able?

Hey guys,

Ive got an opportunity to buy a flame tip anemone for a really good price. When he first bought it, it was vibrant orange with a blue base:

But since it has lost its orange color, it's tentacles are shorter and it's gone mostly green.

I'm convinced he has insufficient lighting, only a 10k in a 40g tank.

I have 2x 12" 3w B/W LED bars that would be sitting on a 24g cube...

Is it save able? Can I return it to its former glory?

It is definitely savable, but 10k is a color, not an intensity. 10k lighting is good for anemones, as long as its strong enough. But if lighting is actually the only issue, it should be easy to recover it.

I saved a couple that looked worse than that. They heal well if conditions are good.

Do I have a chance at bringing it back to its former color? And sorry I meant to say 10K 175w metal halides

A 175w MH over a 40g tank should be enough light. Did it's condition fade before you got it or since you got it? How long have you had it and how long has it been looking unhealthy? If lighting isn't the issue, what are your other water parameters?

Unfortunately it's not in my possession yet... I'm getting it from someone else and trying to revive it, so I don't have the answers you're looking for..

175 watt 10k bulb is ample for a 40g tank. I plan on using that set up for my 80 gallon.

The color should come back. I have one that once I got it was olive drab green. And over the course of a few months have brought it to some beautiful colors. I'm not sure if its done coloring up but it looks similar to your flame. Mine just has green extending up the arms with the top half of the arms bubbly and the color of your first pic.

As fair warning, the 175w 10K is enough light. So the problem was not that. It would be wise to take a sample of the water it comes from and run every test you have on it. If you know what was wrong with the old setup you will be better prepared to avoid it in your tank.

^^^ unless the bulb was well over a year old. That would explain it as the output would be very low.
