Flasher Wrasse

I have a 24x24x18 cube that currently has an Ocellaris clown and purple firefish. I don't have much experiences with wrasses, but am interested in adding a flasher wrasse.

How vibrant are the colors on a solitary male, and will they fade without a female? Also, would a flasher wrasse be peaceful enough that the firefish wouldn't be driven into hiding? He is a very active swimmer now.

My flasher wrasse was peaceful and kept pretty good color. However, they are jumpers you need some kind of cover on your tank. Hope this helps.

A tank doesn't go up in my house without a cover! Anybody want to share experience with a Linespot Flasher wrasse?

Here's the catch for me; I don't believe flashers should be in any tank less than 36" long. They need an appreciable amount to swim when they get to 'doin there thing.

But to answer the other questions, a male might fade without a female or other wrasses present. You don't have to keep them in pairs/trios; males of different species will accomplish the same flashing behavior.

Flasher are very passive, yet very active fish. They spook easily.

I have two flashers now, one is a diamond tail and is very passive, the other was sold to me as a Juvi Mckoskers and I normally wouldn't have bought it but it was 10 bucks. Now that it has matured I'm not sure exactly what it is. It is aggresive though towards all of my wrasses including my yellow tail tamarin, whip fin, and pink margin. I know it's not a Mckoskers or a carpenters.

I agree. I had a Carpenter's in a 3 foot tank & he always had to stop short when flashing for his ladies.
