float switch

I seem to be having an issue with the primary float switch on my ATO. It doesn't seem to always work, but luckily the secondary one does. I took it out and looked it over, nothing out of the ordinary like a snail or debris was found. I plan to take it out tonight and try to clean it. Anyone know if vinegar is bad to use with it, its one of the i-float Float Switch's by aquahub.

Thanks -- Joe

Thanks Scott, I hope its just dirty as the ATO is a DIY kit and the floats are silicone to some tubing to keep them water tight, and it will be a PIA to disassemble.

Had a similar issue on a DA float one of the leads went from copper color to black and stopped conducting. Somehow some salt must have gotten through the heat shrink where it was soldered.

Had to replace the float

I think the first float is bad. Tried a few things but its still not working regularly. Its is siliconed to a tube to prevent water getting in and therefore its going to be difficult to remove/replace. I am leaning toward getting a new ATO and using the still working float to turn the skimmer/ATO off when the water too high. This way I will have a third line of defense from ATO being stuck on, plus when I turn my return pump off and my sump fills up I wont have to manually to unplug to skimmer to avoid it overflowing.
