Florida Keys Resorts w/snorkeling?

Going early summer and still don't have a resort picked out. Anybody have experiences with resorts on Key West that offer snorkeling or is just very nice? We want to go to Old Town to have a few pops, but want to retire back to luxury at night.

Thanks,
Tom

Are you driving down? If so, I would stop at John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo. They will take you 3-5 miles off shore to the protected reefs. Just gorgeous - lots of fish and corals. I was just there last month for the first time and will be back every time I visit South Florida. For $29.95, I think it is a great value. There is a $3 coupon available online if you take the early snorkel boat.

That's exactly what I was looking for. I'm driving from Miami through all the keys. We'll definitely do a day trip back up to Largo.

We're staying at Southernmost La Mer Dewey House right off of Duval st. Wondering if you've heard anything good/bad about that place.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look for the coupon online.

Have not heard anything good/bad about the place your are staying. I think anyone would enjoy Pennekamp. You can bring all your equipment with you or rent it. The only thing you won't be able to use is your snorkel vest - you must use theirs. They go to various reefs depending on the weather conditions in order to find the calmest one. I was at the Grecian Rocks with an average water depth around the reef of 5-7 ft.

Type in grecian rocks pennekamp into a search engine and lots of people have photos of what you can expect. Also, you are in the water for 1 1/2 hours which I think is ample time because by then you will need a margarita break anyway.

Plenty of snorkel boats going out from key west also. Very good snorkelling at sand key lighthouse. There is even a catamaran sailboat that runs snorkel trips to sand key.

I live in kw... the casa marina marina is a very nice resort.. i know the best places to snorkel, some of the head boats do a ok snorkel trip but i could take u on my boat if you want depends on amt of ppl and the weather obv.

Thanks Chasn I'll look up grecian rocks. Good to know a place first if I'm driving all that way back up.

Sounds good for a close trip if I'm tired from all the site seeing. We only have five days so close will work. Sand Key Lighthouse.

PM me your rates and info. Will only be two of us (me and wife). Very amateur snorkelers too.

Thanks for the help, everybody!
