Flow for a 270G SPS tank

Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m upgrading my current SPS tank 180G 72x24x24 to a 270G 72x36x24.

The tank will a center overflow with two returns, but I do not see more than 1500 GPH flow if that much. Landscape will be ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œJapaneseââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ style. About an inch of sand but can also do BB if need be.

I want to use streams for the internal tank flow instead of a closed loop system. I will be using a multiple unit controller since I want to reduce flow at night. What would your suggestions be?

Thanks

Mike

Either 3 6100 and a wavebox or 2 6200 (the wavebox would also be nice in this set).

I would put one 6200 in each back corner aimed to the front center and the wavebox on one side. I would use Interval 1 mode on the controller with 6hr (natural tide) interval. The wavebox would run with the 6200 on it's side and the 6200 on the other side would run independently and every 6hrs they would alternate.

Ok, that sounds good. To start I will probably just do the two 6200 and add the wavebox later. Does the wavebox needs a clear line of site the far end of the tank or can there be corals on its way? I did not see the 6200 for sale on the Tunze website. Is there a 6200 kit like you have for the 6000/6100?

Thanks

Mike

Their is no 6200 kit but those kits are really just their to show how things can be assembled and they don't include any discounts. The wavebox can have obstacles and still work.

We do not sell direct with the excepton of spare parts. You would want to buy from one of our dealers. Marine Depot, Champion Lighting and Premium Aquatics all would likely have the 6200.

Hi Roger,

How much room do I need to have between the water line and the top of the tank to make the Wavebox work correctly?

Thanks

Mike
