Flow Recommendations

I have a 10 foot 300 gallon tank (10 x 2 x 2) with a center overflow and 2 closed loops and a 3 inch sand bed. Each loop and the sump return is using a Iwaki MD30 pump. I am getting horrible flow so I am considering getting some streams and possible a wavebox. I am really leaning towards 2 of the 6100's and 7095 controller, but is that enough?

Well I went ahead and bought the 2 @ 6100's and controller. Hopefully I didn't go to small with a 10 foot tank.

Once I get them in the tank I will let everyone know how they are working for me. I might see a wavebox or two in my future. Got $15K in the tank now, why not shoot for $20K?

Well I got the pumps in and installed them two days ago. While I am happy with the extra flow, I feel I made a mistake and should have ordered the 6200's instead of the 6100's.

Anyways, I am having a but of trouble keeping the pumps pointed at the right angle. Due to my acrilic tank, I had to mount them on the side of the tank, about 9 inches from the back. I had to purchase the extension kit so I could mount them (there sure are alot of little plasic parts). They are almost stable, but at 100% they have a tendenancy to move the angle the pump is facing. The first night it turned completely to the back of the tank and created one hell of a sandstorm that burried several corals. I have turned them to 60% for now, but since the pump sits on the plastic part and pivots, is there any way to create more resistance so that it stays pointed in the correct direction?

You could use a zip tie or a nylon nut and bolt. Is their anyway you can mount them on the overflow or through a cutout in the bracing?

I would try moving the pumps and using different programs, the 6200's really just move a wider section of water. I think the 6100's should do it just fine.

I could mount them on the center overflow, but I already have flow from a closed loop and some powerheads from the overflow. I felt that where I was really lacking was flow on the outter sides of the tank. I will look into the nylon nut and bolt - thank you!
