FMAS elections for 2009

Well I must say I admire anyone who is willing to do the countless and seemingly thankless jobs you are all commitng to. Rogger,Chris.Julio and Tyquan are all very commited to getting the clubmeetings to full capacity, like they used to be. I know ty has been recruting speakers at every macna he has attended and he is very good at it.He is the type of guy who can work with anyone. I think this is the proper forum to discuss what each of you brings to the table and where you want us to be in the future. Will there ever be another club show? are we going after a macna?will we be aqua culturing corals or fish in conjuction with the school?will our members who are succesfull breeders share there scerets. could we start a coop to purchase things in group buys for everyones benefit.but most of all can we foster a feeling of brotherhood so that when a call for help is heard the other members respond in kind coming to the aide of those in need.Perhaps we should let some commercial members serve on the board if they are willing.Matt has always had the clubs best intrest at heart.I like the idea of eco reefing perhaps we could set up a tank at the school with solar tubes and natural filtration. Pardon my rambling just some thoughts. Iwould love to see any or all of you take a position on the board, and if there's anything I can do for you please let me know. All the best Andrew

Thank you Andy, All great questions and valid points that you bring to the table. I would not go to say that we will change the bylaws to let commercial accounts serve as BOD's but I can tell you that anyone and everyone is allow to attend the BOD meeting and expressed their opinions. I feel I am a good listener and a fair individual, I am pretty sure that if it is a good idea and it will benefit the club and its members then it shouldn't matter who brings it.
In respect of the Club Show, I am all for having events that have a significant positive impact in both popularity & financial, I remember that I joined the club in one o the shows and got hooked on it ever since then, the first year Chris and I were running it was impossible to think about a tank show because there was very little funds in our bank acct to even think about that so we decided to ensure we get that bottom line up, which we did, I am not sure were are we standing today and how much money will this years re enrollment will bring but I can tell you that I am looking forward to these great events.
MACNA was another issue that we touched in '07 and again money was one of the barriers, I believe that this year moving forward I will like to focus on given the club more local and nationwide exposure and profitability which will be key factors in attracting this type of shows to the area.
School partnership in AC is an awesome idea, we will have to start some sort of partnership with the school as it is my understanding that it is part of the reason why they let us use their facility, I for one would love to help the school with that project and I am sure that I will get the support of other members.
I am all for group buys, specially if involve articles that you could only use every once in a blue moon, E.G light meter and trace elements test kits.
I am positive that we are an outstanding group of people each one with its own personality but all of us with the same heart for the club, I have nothing in mind that it is more important than to promote a friendly and inviting environment that promotes this kind of commodity.
Eco reefing is the way of the future, I will also like to explore it, but I am clear that as anything Green it is still expensive, I am not yet ready to answer this question yet because I am not sure to what extend is the school willing to partnership with us on this.
Last but not least to answer your last question, It is imperative that you help us and you can rest assure that I will be contacting you.
Thanks in advance.

Rogger, Well said!

I have been a member all year but have not been able to go to any meetings because of my work schedule. I am also not sure if I will be able to go to any meetings any time soon just because of the night that they are held.

I will still pay my dues and try to help with any event or anyone else in the hobby.

Does that mean that I am an unwanted member because I cant make it to meetings? I really look forward and enjoy seeing pictures and hearing about all of the information discussed from the meetings and events.

With that being said, I really dont know any of the other people that are running, but I do know Rogger and would vote for him for his dedication to both the club, members and the hobby. Rogger has to be one of the most genuine people I have met and ALWAYS opens up his house and world to help others in this hobby. He is an infinite book of information and help and if he can run the club with the same amount of dedication that he has to helping strangers then the club will be "better tomorrow then it is today".

Isn't that the reason WE all vote and do anything in life is to become better then we are today?

Rogger has always been there for advise and help, and like others have said, his doors are always open for members seeking help. That in and of itself says alot about the man. The fact he has not been to recent meeting due to personal reasons should not lessen views of his commitment to the hobbyists in this community.

Unfortunately I cant attend this meeting due to a business meeting, but if absentee ballots are available..Rogger has my vote.
