I think it looks great. My only suggestion would be to make the edges of the panels not straight vertical lines. Irregular lines (like jigsaw pieces, for instance) would make the pieces less obviously panels. My project was made in 2 panels and the seam between them still catches my eye as a seam. That was one of the things I thought I would have done differently.
I ziptied rocks so they would overhang the adjacent piece and hide the seam and foamed raggedy on the edge.
Here is a picture when we fitted the pieces into the tank and they seemed to have grown....had to cut off 1/4 to 1/2" of each panel to make them fit. And I had to promise my boyfriend to keep the edges free. Still didn't help, today, I had to go through some major cutting and refitting again, but that's another story.....
Epoxy and Sand. I used the same 20min Epoxy from Bob Smith Industries I think Kannin used. The bad news: I bought a case (24) and I might have 3 sets left
Max is participating in this step also
Is it cured yet?
Another hint while I think about it:
I used 16oz Pepsi bottles and wrapped rock and foam around it to make swim thru's, they can easily be removed afterwards and make a perfect tunnel.
I had ziptied more eggcrate to the bottom of the panels and was going to weigh them down with rock, but plans changed, reengineering was required and that idea was scrapped.
I must mention, they have NOT seen any water yet, so I guess, anything is still possible

That looks totally awesome! I´m thinking about doing a foam project for my new 228g wall tank but here in sweden it isn´t as easy to find all the supplies. Not to hijack your thread but do you Speckled Grouper or anybody else here know any company that ships your supplies world wide? thinking about foam and crate. Best regards. //Daniel PS. im anxious for more pictures =)
Daniel, you might be able to get the foam out of Germany, if not, I'd be willing to put a kit together for you and send it over.
The eggcrate might be tough, it's too big to send, but there might be alternatives to it there.
you are to kind, i will try some german sites to see if i can find. the reason is that the only foam i know of is the stuff used on buildsites, and that i often toxic, even to humans. I will keep you notified about my progress and hope you post more pictures =) Best regards.
Google up "PU Schaum" (Polyutheran Foam) and "Brunnenschaum" (Pond foam, the preferred one). You probably don't speak German, but I just had a bunch of hits come back. Let me know if you need some help translating.
Thanks for the hints, fourtunly(spelling?) i do speak a little german so i think i will be allright if i only find a site who exports at reasonable costs. thanks //Daniel
