My buddy back in the day would dive off the coast and in the keys using a Brownings 3rd lung. We where planning on going with another one to do some shallow diving (less than 40 feet or 30 feet) at the reef's but one glance at their website gave us sticker shock. We realized that we could set up a "Kayak Hookah" system using your dive tank at the surface and long hose's. The problem I see with that is with your Pressure gauge at the surface with your 1st stage you would have to have that monitored by somebody. Question is this, is it possible to attach your pressure gauge or maybe your gauge set up at the second stage (regulator)? Would it give accurate readings? I was just wondering. I don't want to "try it out" under 30 feet of Florida's finest blue:eek1:.

You can T off of the main line close to your regulator and have a normal pressure gauge. It will read accurately.
I want to say it was Brownie's that made the attachment. Let me check and see if I can find what I used.
The up side to diving off a third lung set up is that at only 30 or 40 feet of depth, you can feel the tank get low and still make it up to the top.

Edit: Brownie's has the inline pressure gauge for you. I think the part number is QRS-PG.

its only going to read the stepped down pressure to the second stage it wont read tank pressure
the tank is say 3000 to start
the second stage is delivering 130-150 psi
when the tank drops to 500 the second stage is still 130-150 psi
so until you run into a real danger zone monitoring second stage pressures aint gonna help you
its your life dive the way you want but please dive safe

I thought about that. The Gauge only goes to 200 PSI.

so all your reading is the break pressure to the second stage it wont tell you your tank is getting low till its oh **** time

better idea get a small 6-8
Qf pony bottle and strap it on as back up ??? then you have a safe positive way out

Spare air is always a good idea.

Even when you see the main tank drop below 200 psi, you're close enough to the surface to get up safely.
