Do you have any difficulties keeping reef tanks at altitude? Anyone from Leadville? I know that town is way up there!

Do you find any problems dialing your protien skimmers in?

Do your corals grow at thier regular growth rate, or is it slower?

Any thing you find different from the rest of us flat landers?

I am debating a move from Northern MN, out west, not for a while yet, but I'd like to be prepared when it comes time.

Thank you in advance for responding.

I've never heard of any problems. One of the most fantastic reefs I've ever seen in person is at 9,000 feet. If you search youtube for Steve Hurlock it should come right up.

Leadville is 10,200 if I remember correctly. I wouldn't imagine the difference between 9,000 and 10,200 to be all that substantial of a change.

i used to live in flagstaff Arizona, we were at almost 8,000 ft and everything was fine. when i first started my tank and was a new to reeftanks a guy working at the local fishstore said smaller saltwater tanks at altitude had problems with ph swings... and told me to look for a book called "reefing at mile high city"... i never found that book though haha. i was skeptical of what that employee had to say about it. my tank seemed normal... no issues myself. also had other friends up there that had great reef tanks with many colorful sps.

I live at 9000' and i havent noticed anything different then running at tank at 5000'. I have never run a tank at sea level. My pH stays normal (no swing with a reverse daylight fuge) My skimmer seems to work as good as any i have seen. Coral growth seems to be the same as my friends down in the valley.
