He's about 3-4". But I could be lying because I really suck at guesstimating size. Nowhere near adult size.

Not sure where he's going to go just yet. He's in a 10g QT right now. But eventually he'll probably go in the Medium Scorp Tank.

you have it right on the money...i'd say a tad over 3" SL, or about 4" TL, depending on how one likes to measure their fish.

this was another case of the "mis-ID'd lionfish"...it was marked as P. miles. hopefully, it will do well for us.

He looks like his head is a lot fatter than mine, that's why I asked how big he was I thought he might have been full grown, if you don't mind I'll post a pic to compare. How are his fins on the other side, any missing or torn?

Mine went to frozen food right away, I only fed ghosts once then he went right for silversides, I hope you guys have the same luck

Mine was labeled wrong too, they thought it was a antenna, haha silly lfs

i can see it being mis-ID'd as an antennata, but a miles is WAY off...

just for fun, Renee offered it a ghostie last PM...which it ate.

Ya that is way off, I thought your lfs was pretty reputable, especially With scorpions?

dood...that was the WHOLESALER. there were like 6 of them in the tank.

the one particular LFS is pretty good, but they still call P. russelii "red volitans". when i asked why he said "it's easier for most people, and the folks who are informed know the difference".

They are actually very wrong most of the time. It's how we get some of the cool ones every now and then cause they come in as something else. Sometimes we don't know what we are looking at, but have a general idea, and take the chance and bring it home. We know that one of these days we may bring home a beast in disguise, but we'll house whatever and give them a good home. It's not the luxury all people have when they only have a tank or two.

Of course post a pic. His head also looks pretty big because he's expanding his gills when I come close to look larger. "I'm a big boy! Stay clear of me!". New fish, I find, can have a seemingly larger head because they are in need of a month of some good eats!

What is EXCELLENT is the iphone. You can do your research right there in the shop.

I'll post a pic tonight
when I go to the store I already have my iPhone on my identifacation website waiting to see something that I don't reconize, best phone ever made IMO!!
Greg, my lfs is the same way, he knows he mislabels things but would rather not deal with explaining it to people I guess, I don't complain though because it works to my benefit

unrelated question: I asked on another forum but got no response, have y'all ever ordered from thatpetace.com, I'm looking at ordering some scorps from there, or if you know a better place to get them from your willing to give up, thanks

I've seen them around since forever, but I've never ordered from them and I actually haven't heard much about them stock wise... good or bad.

just an FYI...altho they don't seem to have much in the way of scorps ATM, a good friend of ours who really knows about shipping fish sez NY Aquatics does a super job. she also said the guy does entertain requests.

Thanks Greg, I'll definitely give them a call
Renee, I'm going to go take camera lessons so I can take great pictures like that!! Who else is going into the med scorp tank so far?

Nice, going to be a sweet tank!! If I remember correctly, their going into the 100 and your moving the big guy up?

Yup. It's scary thinking about moving. I've been collecting shipping boxes all year. This is will be last move because when we are done making it a "Fish House" we'll never be able to share it again. Realtor and lenders on board..... I need some Tums!
