For those of running dosers in our SPS tanks.. what are you using?

I've been thinking a lot lately about switching from my acjr brs dosers combo to a stand alone doser. For the most part I'm happy.. but I've been wondering how many of you guys are who are dosing are using BRS dosers w/controllers using the OSC function or not. I'm starting to find some very fine tuning limitations that I didn't have issues with in my bigger tanks. I may just be getting to picky..but I don't like how the osc feature will land me with an extra dose or possibly short one dose in a 24 hour period. It makes my test results a little inconstant when looking at short periods of time.

I have the drew's dosers from BRS on an Apex. I don't use the OSC function; i instead set the dosing for varying lengths of time every 4 hours. Actually the parts are every 4 hours but they are offset by 2. So every 2 hours either CA or ALK is being dosed. More ALK is dosed at night to help with PH compared to to midday.

I just got two drew's dosers that will be going on my Apex. Only question I have is where do you get replacement tububing for the head.

I have a Proflux dosing unit attached to my Profliux 3 and love it. They have a standlone unit as well. Simply set the desired dosing amount in ml and it takes care of the rest.

I switched from 2x Drew's Dosers on an ACJr, to the bubble magus standalone unit. I wasn't using the OSC command on the controller, I was just doing the whole "If time >12:00 Then ALK on, If time > 12:10 Then Alk off" type coding 4x per day. I like the bubble magus because I tell it how much total ml's to dose per day and how many times to do it (up to 24). Very easy to adjust to your tanks demands.

The reason I changed was to obtain more stable parameters, free up coding space since the ACJr is limited, and because I always love buying new equipment.

I use a acjr and a BRS doser. I think you are over thinking things. If your dosing is an even multiple of 24 (I dose every hour alternating between cal/alk) you shouldn't end up short/over.

Besides the odds that you are adding exactly what your tank needs is pretty much zero. Your numbers will always be drifting one way or the other anyhow.

profelux dropped their price to 400, hmmmm

why ?

vertex is coming out with theirs soon, first quarter of 2012 I heard, Im waiting for those..

right now ? I use a very complicated system of TOM Aqualifter pumps and digital timers LOL hhaaha been using it for 5 years ...

i use litermiter 3 with 2 remote pump modules, dosing brs 2 parts recipe. i used to have the brs dosers with timers but with lm3 everything got easier .

I got a bubble magus a little while ago, and I love it. Can't complain about anything but the directions. IMO, great unit for the price.

3 brs dosers on a rkl. I have my alk start dosing when my daylight bulbs shut off to help w ph. Doses every 45 minutes 30x a day for 1 min. Ca I dose all day long 30x for 1 min and mg is dosed 4x a day for 1 min. Love the multi timer function on the rkl.

So none of you guys are using the OSC function anymore? I don't dose an even 24. I figure out how many mins on, and how many mins off I need to run my pumps to give me the ml I want. Sometimes that gives me 10 doses a day, sometimes 11. The time function worries me at least with the acjr since it has that lame leap second feature to keep the time right ha (which is never perfect). I have this chart me and a friend made that we use to figure out our dosage

BM 3 way here, there are also the new single BM with the interface on the front for about $80-95 retail, they can be connected together but by the time you buy more than three you might as well buy the single 3 way.

Where did you find that pricing?

OSC command works just fine if you split your doses up to a multiple of 24 hours. 1,2,3,4,6,8, or 12 hours apart. 10 or 11 doses in a day doesn't work. Has to be 24,12,8,6,4,3, or doses. Adjust your dosing to match one of those intervals IMO. OSC works much better, especially where you're limited by lines of code on the AcJR.

Where did you find that pricing?

its their new price.

there must be a reason for the drop though ! I dont think its cause they want the best for my reef :P hhaah

well actually the new Fauna marine dosers, are the GHL dosers with a different brand on it ! so I assume they did that to compete with fauna marine ... OR the vertex dosers to come ... who knows ...
