Exactly what the title says...

Is it worth it? I'm kinda stuck between the Rebel XTi and the 30D. The 30D has a one hundred dollar rebate so it getting pretty close to the same pricing as the new Rebel.

Do you need the speed of a 30d? - 5fps?

If so, then yes its worth it. I went from a rebel to a 20d, to a 5d. I do miss the speed of the 20d/30d at times.

um rebel xti has newer cmos sensor than 30d 30d has very high quality i went xti and love it but before i knew about xti i wanted 30d

I just upgraded the XT to the 30D. I looked at the XTi but what sold me on the 30D was the ability to go to ISO 3200 and spot metering. I also like the controls better on the 30D.

I have the Xti and I love it. Even with the "cheap" kit lens which is all I have so far. For what I use it for, I could not justify the extra expense.

How good of a photographer are you? Will you be able to shoot the difference in cameras? Or maybe buy the less expensive camera and use the money you save towards a quality lens. The price of the 30D is body only I believe.

Good luck, let us know what you choose!

I made the same upgrade xt to 30d.
reasons are:
build quality.
spot metering.
5fps
iso3200.
controks.
shutter life.

I am looking for pretty much the same.

I still have my film slr Canon 1V - so I want a camera body which has a nice heft to it.

I already have the following lenses Canon 17-35mm L 2.8, 28-135mm 3.5 to 5.6, and the Sigma 70-200 2.8.

well then it should be a wrap on the 30d its a nice heavy well built camera and while the xti is not as nice although it is allot nicer than the xt

I didn't want to have to upgrade again for sometime so I went w/ a 30d. Seems worth the extra cash on build quality alone.
