Foxface and File Fish need good home....?

I've got a 4" foxface that I've raised from 1" and a Awesome semi-tasseled File fish that changes colors like a chameleon (my all time favorite fish). Both are healthy and come from an established fish only tank that I'm breaking down...hopefully this weekend. I'm also trying to get rid of some Cheoto full of tasty bugs and stuff. I'd rather not send the fish to the the LFS if at all possible. Free to good homes.

aren't most file fish obligate coral polyp eaters ? And which foxface ? some are known to have a taste for zoas and palys... Do you have either one in a reef tank with softies/clams/sps ?

Thanks

Sparkss, while it is true that orangespot files are obligate coral eaters most of the other files are preditory and feed on things like shrimp and coepapods. If they are small enough they wont bother ornamental shrimp, but tasseled files can get over a foot long depending on which species it is. They are also related to triggers and many can be quite aggressive, but as long as they are small and/or kept with other robust reef fish in a coral only reef they should do well

do you still have them if so I will take them

The foxface is still available for a fish only tank. I don't want someone to put him in a reef, see that he's eating all the vegetation and flush him. Do you have a Fish only Tank?

Hehehe, thanks, I missed that part. :). Rafael, don't you have a reef tank ?

I have both, a reef and a fish only

There's been some other interest, but noones made arrangements to come and get him yet. I wouldn't mind taking him to the meeting but I just can't wait that long. Come and get him.

Thanks for making the trip Rafael. It was good talking to you. I hope the Foxface works out for you. I'm sure that the File fish being a little closer to town will help his chances of finding a permanent home. I'll be breaking down my 55G tank tomorrow. I have two gallon bags of Cheato that I need to either give or throw away. Last call for cheato???

i'll need some cheato for the tank at work but have to figure out how to keep it from clogging up my pump first. and when our favorite fish store gets my stand addition finished i'll need some for that tank too.

Well, as usual, there's always a glitch. It appears that the chaeto I was using had some Caulerpa racemosa in it. That stuff pretty much took over the Chaeto. I removed all that I could see from the Chaeto, but I'm sure there's got to be some more in there somewhere. I was told that it's illegal to possess it in California. Your supposed to freeze it for 24 hours and then dispose of it in the landfill. It sounds like it's very hard to remove? I guess I'll see how it goes. I was also told that Tangs like to eat it....since I have a few of those, maybe I'll be ok. What next....flood.....fire......Ring worm? It never ends!

thanks for the foxface wpnorton, it was nice meeting you and the fam.

Thanks for the pics Rafael. It's good to see him out and about and loving all the extra space. I think he'll be a great addition to your collection.
