Foxface has never had good color

My foxface rabbitfish has been in this tank for around 3 months and has been eating a lot. He eats a TON of nori seaweed, and I also feed him some Formula One flakes occasionally, and LRS herbivore frenzy. He eats a lot.

But, he also hides a lot. And he also has awful colors, and he has looked like this for months. And it's not like sometimes he's completely yellow, he always looks like this.

What could be the cause of him looking like this?

Along with what you allready feed I would add some nls pellets my fox face destroys them !!

Your guy looks stressed out , when they are spooked they camo up like that change colors .
They are very skittish fish so it takes a good bit of time for them to use to their new environment

does he have any Friends? My One spot never fully brightened up Until I added a Scopas Tang to the tank. The two became best buds right away and with in a week my One spot turned bright yellow. It's a stress thing and with a companion they feel "safe". 3 years later and those two are still inseparable in my 210.

I agree he looks uncomfortable / anxious / stressed. Mine is a bright yellow when he's feeling like the confident stud muffin he is, gets very dark and flicks his fins rhythmically when feeling aggressive, and mottled like yours when submissive or sleeping. That said, he doesn't look bright yellow all the time.

Rancherlee, that's interesting how yours paired with your Scopas. Mine paired up with my Chevron and they swim together much of the day. "Paired" may be a bit strong, but "became buds with" seems about right.

I notice this with my One spot also. He always swim around my Yellow tang in my 65 gal (not permanent home in case the tang police want to book me into the reefer's jail). There are only two fish in that tank, and they are always within a few inches of each other.

I have a yellow tang that is in quarantine, and will be ready for the tank in a couple weeks. Hopefully that will fix the problem.
