Frag Swap Ideas for next year

I figured while it is still fresh on our minds, we may want to think about what went well and what can be added or changed for the next swap to make it even better. This was my first swap which went well in my opinion, but it is a good time to list any desired changes before we forget about them.

The club frag tank needs an upgrade, but David is already working on that.

I had the great idea of bringing my digital camcorder to get some video that could be transferred to DVD or clips that could have been added to our website, but of course I thought of it on the way to Memphis.

I could maybe setup a laptop running a slideshow of different things the club has done over the year or years or have some frag demos available to bring traffic to the club tank/table.

Now someone else can list their ideas.

Kudos to everyone, as I think it went great.

The one thing that came to my mind that may help next time, would be to have a small speaker and microphone to announce door prize numbers, raffle drawing numbers, and to announce when something like a seminar is about to take place. I found it hard to hear anything that was being announced. Other than that, I thought everything went off well.

You guys beat me to it..I was going to post about ideas for improvement as soon as I got home from work today....love the video camera idea...and the laptop with the slide show would be neat too ...I wrote down all your suggestions and I am open to hearing any thing you want to suggest...we will take it into consideration next year...

The swap went great IMO but I do see where things were different from last and this year. I know I want to be on the swap committee for next year and I think we should start planning on the 3rd annual swap now. I was really glad to see so many new faces and especially to see quite a number of faces from last year (that I knew drove from many hours away!) I think this next swap will be our best yet now that we've got two under our collective belts.
Thanks everyone for making this happen, especially Malisa!

i seen some dry goods on the club table with price but no name,if someone wanted it they were told im not for sure whos that is,then went on the floor asking.& it looked like alot of lookers on the floor befor 10 while we were still trying to get set up,then we had to clear those people out so they could pay to get back.

I have sent an email to all who purchased a table asking for ideas on improvements, and a great one was that vendors and volunteers get name tags so then you will beable to tell the difference. Then shoppers wont get in early.

I also saw someone that was walking around selling things out of his cooler. I never saw him go to a table. Are you allowed to sell things without getting a table.

We will have to decided on that for next year.

That comment made me think of some guy with a "peanut vendor" type box. Walking around.

"SPS get your bright colored SPS right here! I got Ausie Acans, red hot zoas, LE Tyree's." LOL

yea i suggested roller skates

The guy with the cooler of corals came to my table and was trying to swap an RBTA for something.
I think being a "frag swap" we need to let those folks in and be able to trade their goods without any problem. Usually that sort of thing is encouraged.
There might be one or two who try to sell them as well but I don't think that would get to be a problem. If it is we can get grannybj to open a can of whoopass and problem will be solved

ok so now my technicolor imagination hears Tina in one corner of the room selling hotdogs and Bar B Q like a peanut vendor and Malisa and Al announcing the upcoming Round 1 of "non- paying cooler toting vendor " VS Granny BJ ...too funny....

Hmm, I am that guy! I thought the whole idea of a "frag swap" was to trade. I didn't think I had enough good stuff to get a table. I had two things to sell and the rest was to trade. I was under the impression people were going to be there with their stuff trading, etc. I knew there would be vendors but I thought there would be many more there trading with each other. I had a good time though and glad I came. Thanks for having me and sorry if I offended anyone.

That seems to be the idea hence the name but it has become more of selling venue over time. I can't see that you did anything wrong. You came to swap and you paid to get in. Mission accomplished.

I think bringing things to trade at a "Frag Swap" would be exactly what it was all about. If we are not going to allow that then we certainly need to change the name of it a Trade show and sale etc..and advertise that no one will be able to bring things to sell or swap except Vendors, which from what I read on RC is certainly not how most of the "Club Swaps" are handled.

If it is going to indeed be a "trade show and sale" then that is certainly a different venue.

It was my first frag swap as well and that is what I "expected' was for people to bring there own to "Swap".

But then again I really do not think this is the "Best Forum" for sending out ALL of our ideas about the frag swap. I would "suggest" that our ideas be sent to the "Board of Directors" or discussed at the club meeting.

But that is just my OPINION for that 2 cents worth.
