Frankie's 120 gal. reef.

Jonathan, seriously, you need to start a thread on all the ways to save electric. I have a feeling that it would be a really popular thread. Simple things that would never occur to me, like putting the mixing pump on a timer (thanks for that suggestion).

Frankie, I SO envy your ability to work with acrylic like you do. Everything you build looks so nice and clean and finished! Awesome job!

Well, the problem with that is I have no real electrical background and would get pummeled mercilessly if I came about as an expert in that topic. Plus, my electric bill is much higher than the average household, so answering that question would make me look like an idiot. I bet I save about $240/month based on my design though.

Have you ever known me to complain?! LOL, it's not like your putting large angels in a clam tank! keep it coming, I am always willing to learn something new. especially if i can save $2,880 a year!
I like the way your tank is coming out btw Terry.
Booze, are you going to start a thread on your tank soon?

...Well, the problem with that is I have no real electrical background....
none needed... all you need is a killowatt meter and a lot of patience :D

hmmmm...my build... I take the fifth :D

I did however, finally recieve my fixtures after waiting almost 8 months for them

 Steve pointed that out too... I need to practice on scale and perspective
but with patience and time comes skill and mastery :D

yeah that scale thing is tough. make the entire tank a component, then attach the tape measure, and grab and resize.

Here's a few pictures i took today. I ordered the Geismann 12.5k bulbs because after 8 months the reeflux are starting to shift color. I liked the reeflux a lot. Just wanting to try new stuff. I did not alter the pictures at all. This is no flash.

Those are the old bulbs. :) The new ones are on the way. I wanted to post some pictures to compare with. Thanks Terry! Your tank is coming out awesome bro!

FFRANKIE,
Nice 120g, maybe one day I will reach such heights. What kind of powerheads/ wavemakers do you use for flow in your tank?

Dang Frankie! That tank looks super clean.
Nice subject matter, excellent composition.

I give it a 9.5

I forgot, what are you switching too?
I switched to the hamilton 20k from 14k and it's "o.k.", but looks darker now. No light shock so I'm ok. with that.

Robert, you are not allowed to plead the 5th. I expect a link in my mailbox by sundown. :)

Thanks guys! I hope to reach the heights of jnarowe one day :D His diy skills are awesome!
ELTON, my flow is a closed loop on the back (pictures on the front page) and two returns from the sump. The CL is ran by an amp master 3000. There is about 4000 gallon turn over in the main display.
Hey Vic! I ordered the 250 watt Gueismann megachrome 12.5k. Just wanting to try something new. The Reeflux were great bulbs. I read that Sanjay got more time out of the megachromes though and the color in his pictures seems a bit more right. I will see. They arrive on Wednesday. The pump for the skimmer arrived today. I will hook it up tomorrow. :)
