The thermaltake I used to build this are good but i can still hear them. So I am hoping these new ones will solve the problem. It is not a mechanical noise but wind.

GQuinn, I have a closed loop on this tank. There is a Dolphin AMPMaster 3000 that is pushing 3000 gph with no head loss. I do have a power head in there but it is being used more as a magnet to hold a frag rack to the back glass.

Sorry Laurence, I have not been getting any reports from any of my subscriptions all summer and fall.
I am sorry to say but due to cost and time I tore this system down and gave all the corals away to a friend. I needed to focus more on my families needs during this recession.
Maybe I will start another one day but am just keeping a 61 gal. frag tank that I built going with some rock and one yellow tailed damsel I didn't have the heart to get rid of. (had him to long to give away )
I spend most of my time now just helping others on a forum I mod, reefsanctuary.

Sorry to hear you took your tank down. I just don't seem to get to the RS forum much any more, there just never seems to be a whole lot of sps fanatics hanging out there.

I hear you also oldude, it is a great forum but less so for the advanced reefers and sps keeper then beginner and intermediate reefer. It will always be my home base though.

I just found your thread and I was admiring your workmanship and your tank.
I am sorry to learn that you had to break down the tank.

I recently purchased a used 180g Oceanic "œreef ready" tank. I am not so happy with the overflows. I would rather like to have a cost-to-coast overflow.

I do have some questions regarding your overflow. Did you bend the black acrylic, or did you glue it? From where did you get it? Do you have some more photos from it, by any chance?

Hello Hermann,
Yes, the corners going down are seamless, (bent) the rest is square joint glued.
That acrylic I am not to sure where I got it from but you can get it from www.usplastics.com
I still have the tank in storage and could get some pictures if you need them. That one up there pretty much tells the story though. Thanks for stopping in

How did you bend the plastic? With a heat-gun?

How did you glue the overflow to the glass? Silicone?

I assume you have one standpipe in each corner, or?

Yes I used a heat gun. I clamped it down and heated it until it was soft. (When it wiggles it is ready) I used two strips of wood on each side and bent it all at once.
I used silicone to glue it in. Be sure to clamp it in or wedge it with some wood. Let it cure fully for 7-14 days. I did this 10 years ago and it still holds strong so don't let anyone tell you you cannot silicone plastic to glass.
Yes I had a stand pipe in each corner.
