Frank's 120 gallon upgrade build.

Talk to me about skimmers.

I have an SRO1000int that is about 8 months old and I also have a RO 150nw that should be 3-5yrs old. Came with the tank.

Should I upgrade this guy from my 1000int? If I were, it would need to be worth the upgrade.

Depending on bioload the 1000 should be OK. I run a 2000 but I also have a heavy bioload and like keeping nutrients low. When I started my tank I was between the 1000 and 2000 and I seemed to fall right in the middle where either would be fine. You more confused now?:p

No. You answered my question. I guess I'm just looking to spend money on this and I can't. Lol.

I'll keep the 1000 until the tank proves it needs more.

60" wide tank? Get as many T-5 you can in there. Forget LED'S. You'll be able to keep anything you want if you do that as long as tank is <24" tall. This is my $0.02

I actually just saw this. Tank is 26" tall. Still considering making this move. The LEDs on this tank definitely did a decent job but I'm not sure that I'm in love with it. (Progression can be found in Gillguy's thread about Chinese LEDs. I bought his tank).

I'm still considering the move to T5. I found that I won't be able to put the 4th T5 in the canopy.

Fish that will be moved from current set up include:
2 black percs
Lawnmower blenny
Helrichi fire fish.
Red headed solon wrasse
Lubbocks wrasse
2 Cardinals

I'm toying with a few options in the same species.

3x-4x -Carberryi/Red Belted/Randall's
Lemonpeel Angel
Spotfin Butterfly/Saddleback
Scott's Wrasse
Leopard Wrasse
Pink Margin Fairy(maybe x2)
Powder Blue Tang
Scopas Tang
Yellow Eyed Kole Tang

I've read about issues with butterflies and Angels and snacking. I tried to select fish that were visually appealing that had a better shot at reef friendly. I have this same list circulating in the new to hobby section for advice on stocking.

But ofcourse, my friends here get to chime in privately ;)

Update on the list:
2 black percs
Lawnmower blenny
Helrichi fire fish.
Red headed solon wrasse
Lubbocks wrasse
2 Cardinals

Purchases:
Bimaculatus Anthias/Indian ocean lyretails
Bellus Angel pair

I find that my taste in wrasses keeps switching. Definitely love Flame Wrasse and a few others.
Still deciding on Chromis for possible more shoal. Still undecided on Tangs.

I'm at work and bored. Giving myself a free bump.

I'll never do chromis again unless I have a monster tank, which is down the road for sure but in smaller tanks, all the advice out there is correct. I've tried twice, once with purple chromis then blue/greens. It always ends badly:eek:

Love dem flame wrasses tho......

nevermind then. I'll just go with more anthias.

Just read the TOTM for March. I think it convinced me to go full T5 and revisit LEDs in the future.

Siporax came in today. Started my rodi soak. I found a small reactor that I have and I plan on neatly stacking my tubes to see if I can make it fit 2 liters. I plan on running it in my 60 cube to build up some bacteria and get a jump start on filtration. Hoping I can get it set up tomorrow.

Still there. An no. Not yet. Weighing out my options. Lol. I'd have to ship them to work, have them sit until about 6pm, drive home and begin acclimation.
