*Free Bag Of The New Tunze Reef Excel Salt*

I received my bag a couple of days ago and mix the first batch last night and test this morning; Here are the results:

14 gallons mix, 9 cups used, RO/DI water
Salinity 1.025
Temperature 87.2 kept by Mag5 circulation pump
Dkh 8.4 Aquariums Systems test kit
Calcium 410 Salifer test kit
Magnesium 1200 Elos test kit

I do not test for anything else in my tank unless needed. The salt disolved fast!

Thank you for the free bag!!!!

That is not too shabby of parameters.

Got mine too, thanks guys! I am finishing off an open bag and then I will mix up some Reef Excel and post some numbers too.

Tunze has decided to sent out another 20 free bags, I know my reply to this would pay off evetually even after the first round was over long ago.
Rodney, pm sent, thank you and Tunze for the generosity, can you post the price of the salt.

It was initially planned to send out 40 bags in two stages. It takes a fair amount of time to organize this stuff so we broke it down into 20bags at a time when things slowed enough to let us do it, keep in mind it is just myself, Rodney and Dave here, for 3 people we tend to be at the limit of what we can do.

Maybe the guy that first posted the results on the salt should get a special price ;)

just kidding, thanks a lot for the salt, please post pricing and size when available. I hope you guys don't have to re-ditribute these - it is going to be a hard job.

Premium Aquatics has it now, it is on the website. The bags are $26.90, buckets are $54.93, the buckets are equal to two bags. It also comes in a bulk box which equals about 2.5 bags for $63.63

Painkiller, we are not giving away any more bags. It was only the first 40 respondents.

1.020 is the industry standard, unfortunately when you try to buck the norm then people see the other brands as a better value because they mix more. I am reminded of the other day when we went to buy some pine sol to clean the floors here, the generic was $2.90 and it took 1 cups per gallon, the real deal was $5.40 and 1/4 cup made a gallon. Most people probably grab the generic because without reading the fine print there is no standard reference though the generic was really twice the price.

I have always been amazed by people who seek out the cheapest salt to put into their valuable aquariums. The water is the most important part, not something I am willing to go cheap on. Are they really saving that much anyway when they have to buffer and supplement to make up for the cheap salts deficiencies?

Does it really matter if some of the readings are low , say only 1200 Magnesium.

If the readings of magnesium was say 1400, it would be well below that within a week, so i find it funny when hobbyist bang on about the higher readings of other salts.

Could the members that received a bag of salt let us know how your packaged arrived. I would like to know if the boxes and the way that the bags were packed held up during shipment.
