Free Light Rack

If anyone remembers what it looks like. I have my old conduit light rack sitting around. It's painted black, constructed out of 1 piece of 3/4 EMT conduit, and approximately 63" tall. I made it to give a "floating" appearance to the light, without breaking up the rimless look of my tank (aka no canopy or wires visible above the tank). I would like it to go to another rimless setup, but if you can use it let me know.

Here's the start of my new light rack:

You can't give away an Original Tswifty custom piece!!!?? I figured you would try to work into your new place when you move in as a reading light mounted to the back of a chair or something....:lolspin:

I can use it for my sons 35 cube - it would look great... Let me know.
No problem Ted, give me a call when you get a chance and let me know when you would like to pick it up. I'm headed over to Lowes real quick, then should be at my house working on the new light rack the rest of the night

Finished the new light rack today.

I don't know when I'm going to be able to get around to painting the rack, but I think it looks fine for now. I still need to ziptie back the cords as well.

I must say I am VERY pleased with the new brighter "look" and spread of the light from the Lumen Max Elites. Two of them cover the tank corner to corner perfectly. I'll have to borrow a PAR meter again when I get a chance to get some values.

Dude, very nice! Looks great with both reflectors. Hey if your new jobs doesn't work out you can get some work with Pipe Benders local 101....lol

Thanks. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and can't wait to see what it looks like once I get the finishing touches on it.

what is your schedule Thursday afternoon- we all should be dug out "again" by then. I work tomorrow until 7pm. SO, I could come by late tomorrow if necessary. Maybe pick out a frag or 2 as well. Be a surprise for the boy- he has been doing most of the shoveling - so dads treat.

Either day is fine for me, just let me know what works best for you.

I think that'll look great once it's painted black. Even not, it still looks fantastic, which is about what I've come to expect from you.

Is there anyway you can drill the tubing and run the cord through it?

We had this discussion with him when he did the first light rack. You definitely can...I use 3/4" conduit to support my canopy and run my cord through one of them. The way he had his painted/secured, you really didn't notice the cords at all anyway unless you were really looking for them, so he kept them outside.

True. If he paints it black, you won't even notice the wire at all. I guess I was just thinking with it silver.

Thanks Nate. Hopefully I'll have time to get all the finishing touches done sometime next weekend.

Yeah I'm planning on painting it. When I did it on the old light rack and used black zip ties, you couldn't even see the wire.
