Please pay close attention to this entire ad. If you don't meet the requirements or feel I am unreasonable in my request then just move along.

The time has come for me to part with my large Achilles tang. I have owned him since Oct 1 2007. I purchased him from DFS He is about 6" in size and as healthy of an Achilles as you will find.

Now before I share any other details Ichabod MUST go to someone with at minimum an 8ftx2ftx2ft tank. I do not base tank size off of gallons that a tank is or total system volume. Having owned him for so long I know for a fact he needs a LOT more swim room than a 3, 4, or 5 ft deep dimension can provide, again regardless of the number of gallons.

If you are interested in purchasing Ichabod I ask that you send me a PM with a complete system breakdown of the home he will be going to. Please do not lie to me in an attempt to purchase an Achilles, in the end it will only be the fish that suffers.

If I don't feel comfortable with the information you provided I may ask for pictures of your setup with a tape measure visible. I have been contacted in the past by people who claim to have X size tank though other information they have included just doesn't seem to add up.

Yes I realize I am asking for a lot, but an Achilles tang is a fish that requires a serious hobbyist with a PROPER setup. With their high mortality rate I am being as responsible of a hypocrite as I can be as I truly believe that Achilles for the most part are better off left in the ocean.

Anyone that has really done their research on an Achilles will realize that 3+ years is a LONG time to have an Achilles live. I attribute this to my research and building my tank around him.

I realize times are tough, but I am not going to give him away. I am asking for $250 and I am pretty firm on that. I WILL NOT SHIP HIM. Achilles do not ship well and I do not want him to die from the stress of shipping. DFS is currently asking $280 PLUS shipping for a large Achilles so I feel my price is more than reasonable.

Here are pictures I took of him tonight. I have been ignoring the tank as of late so the photos aren't professional quality.

I have a nano that would be perfect for him?! Could you ship to Nigeria? Would you take $2...shipped?

J/K. Sorry you have to let him go. Your requests are not unreasonable by any means and the price is right. Good luck.

Free bump

My admiration for placing restrictions on who purchases him. While I have the appropriate tanks, I do not have the proper tank mates. Hope he goes to a good home!

Just wondering why you have to part ways when it seems you are pretty attached to this fish? just asking no disrespect intended.

Financial reasons. I can't justify the expense of the hobby anymore so unfortunately I need to find Ichabod an appropriate home.

any other way you can cut back with the tank without parting with him?

I suffered a spinal injury almost 3 1/2 years ago while on the job and am on disability. Unfortunately it doesn't pay me enough to justify the expense of the hobby. It is a very difficult decision to make but I need to cut tank related expenses at least in half.

yeup this hobby is not for the faint of heart or wallet thats for sure, well thats to bad I hope you really find a suitable home for ichabod he would look awsome in my tank but I agree with you they are not good travelers

sorry to hear about the back injury. i have been fighting with a serious sciatica problem the last 2 months and cant even imagine 3 1/2 years of back pain. i have a tank just about right for him 7 X 2 X 2 with all rock centered to swim all around but just not quite the size you want. until i complete my new sump and install my alpha cone 250 i would not even consider taking something this precious and fragile. if you still have him in 3 months i may be interested but then again its not 8 foot. good luck and get well my friend.

I have the tank for him, I'm just full up on tangs at this point :( Kills me as thats a great fish.

Sad to hear man, but as much props as I gave you for taking care of him I now give you for finding the right owner. It will be a sad day when Kratos grows bigger and I have to find a home for him. Or buy another house and get him a nice big tank :)

Just wanted to let you know you have my best wishes!

Bump for a great fish, one thing I would add is this type of fish seems to do better in a oxygen rich environment so you'll pretty much need a killer skimmer to pull that off, I run an octopus sro 5000 ext and he's doing great but like several have already said an Achilles is not a entry level or small tank fish so please be responsible and truthful if Purchasing this fish

Just so it doesn't look like I am ignoring the thread, I have been in communication with a couple of people that meet what I am looking for. I appreciate the feedback from everyone and I am glad that many of you understand 3+ years with an Achilles is no small feat and why I am exercising such caution with his placement. I figure it is the least we can do with livestock that is being removed from the ocean.

Don't have a tank anywhere big enough -- but really like how you are going about this.

As someone who has had 5 back surgeries, I can "feel" your pain.
