do yourself a favor and just cut the corals from those ora plugs. then use some super glue
to mount them.

my two cents. ora plugs suck for the end user in a big way.

Thanks Jack! :D I'll be happy when I see that FTS. :p All joking aside, everything's looking great! I'm glad the clams seem to be doing well, too. Do you have a updated shot of the tricolor (I think)? That one seemed like it was ready to explode in the last pic you posted of it.

You have made ridiculous progress on this tank in only 5 to 6 months! Nicely done. Corals seem to be loving the ATI fixture. Beautiful corals too BTW.

Thanks!

Yeah, totally agree. ORA plugs are the worst. I dont mind keeping the aussie delicate and borealis on the plugs because of the way I placed them. I'm probably going to cut the bottlebrush because I mounted it straight up.

Thanks kasey, the clams are looking great. Yeah that was the tricolor, I'll take a pick of it tomorrow...surprisingly it has grown too much...

I added the male clownfish about 3-4 months ago. At first there was fighting, as expected, but then, there was nothing. All the sudden, in the past few weeks, the male will go into the anemone for about 5-10min and then leave. Then, he comes back to it 10min later, stays awhile, then leaves. He will do this the entire day and then have nothing to do with the anemone or the female clown for the next few days. After a few days, he repeats the process. Interesting to watch, but pair up already!:D

Lookin great........Insperation.....

Thanks!

The male has some great markings! Congrats on the pairing!

Yeah he really stood out from the rest. Not too sure they're completely paired yet since the male isnt sleeping in the anemone. As soon as the lights go off, he swims over to the front top corner of the tank. But I don't think it will be much longer...

I went ahead and ordered some new bulbs- 4 blue + and 2 purple +. I was thinking about getting a new generation 14k, but decided to play it safe because the corals have responded real well to these bulbs. Only exception are the acans as they have receded and look like they are on their way out. Hopefully, the purple + do the same job as the fiji pink bulbs.

Look like a granulosa to me. Care is the same though high flow low light.

It's definitely one of the two. Once the colony gets larger, I think it will be easier to see which one it is. Either way, I like it! I originally had it under indirect light, but it lost a lot o color. So, I placed out in direct light(~8" under the water's surface) and now it's growing like crazy. Just wish I could get a little more flow to it without ticking the clams and anemone off...

Just went through this thread for the first time. Really like your tank. I like the clean not cluttered look of it. Good job and thanks for the great pictures.

amazing bro. Excelent growth

Thanks!

So, I got the new lights in and tested to make sure they all worked and they did. But, for some reason, the fixture isn't powering them all at once. Here's my lighting scheme:

left to right
Blue +
Fiji Purple/Purple +
Blue +
Blue +
Fiji Purple/Purple +
Blue +

First, I tried to power all four blue +, but only the first two on the left powered up. The other flickered, then died. My next idea was to take out the two that worked to see if the other two would come on and they did. So, all of them worked but only two at a time. Then, I tried the two purple +(replaced the fiji purples) and they worked without any problems. When I turned on both switches, the two blue + on the left and the two purple + worked. Here's the interesting part, I replaced the new bulbs with the ones I'm currently using and all 6 worked (4 blue + and 2 fiji purple). This leads me to believe its not the ballast, but none of the new bulbs are bad, so maybe someone can shed some light...

What's the best way to post a video?

Upload to Youtube and then use the embed function on the youtube page to copy and paste the required coding...easy enough. I did a quick google search "how to post youtube videos on reefcentral"...something like that, there is a page on the feedback/answers forum of RC that explains exactly what you need to do.

Did you get the lighting problem sorted out? It sounds like a ballast problem. Also sometimes the tube contacts are just not seated properly and causes this issue.

Thanks sahin, I have yet to completely figure out what is going on with the light. The video is about the light showing what happens when the problem occurs.
