Yesterday was not a good day. My 3 little gobies in my 3g were all on the sand dead yesterday am. Must have been a parameter thing. They had eaten well the night before. I was battling a red slime outbreak in the tank and had put carbon in the filter a few days efore. Then last night I smelled an electrical type smell coming from upstairs. I went up there and decided that my return pump from the sump up to my frag tank had burned out. There were brown looking bubbles in the tank. I turned everything off the pump. My husband asked me to bring the pump to him for him to check out. I went back into the tank room and started looking further and found that the light I kept on my fuge had fallen into the fuge and was sizzling. I immediately cut the power off to it and unplugged it. My few sps frags were bleached out and ricordia, kenya tree, candy canes sliming and zoas not looking happy. I immediately cleaned out protein skimmer and it started pulling out nasty gunk. I also placed carbon in my sump. The one damsel, turbos and hermit crabs and the 2 emeralds were all fine. I ended up taking out all my frags and putting them in my larger tank. All but SPS looks like they will survive. I know I needed to do a massive water change, but had no saltwater made up. Guess you know what I will be doing this weekend!! Making and changing water and getting a new fuge light!!
