Full Tank Progression Shots

One thing I have learned is to not mess with or tinker with stuff. The more I keep my hands out of the tank the better things are....just let nature take its course.

I learned this a long time ago but still after 9 years struggle to practice it. I'm giving it one last attempt and must say that if I am rewarded with half the beauty of your tank, I'll be happy. :)

The tank is beautiful!!!

I have a question about the red Digi in the lower right corner. Is that a frogspawn or a hammer coral that it is growing over?

If it's frogspawn, I might try something similar with a red digi.

Thanks All.

This tank has always been the primary inspiration for my own build. So glad you've been taking shots like this it's a real treat to see your fantastic growth so easily. Keeping rockwork and camera work consistent makes for an amazing sequence!

Keep it up...tho not TOO up since that tank is going to fill soon enough!
I appreciate that! Things have become tight very quickly!

What are your future frag tank plans?
I just ordered a 36L X 24W X 12H acrylic frag tank that should be in this week. Another project!

Thanks! To the left is a hammer and to the right (barely visible) is a frogspawn. I started that digi from a 1" free frag!

thanks for providing the info. on your fish!

Do you still have the regal angelfish? Were you able to get it to feed or did it start to pick on some corals?

thanks!

did you change your light bulb spectrum between october 2007 and december 2007 then again jan and may 2009? tanks look different. if you did can you tell me the light bulb combo and the ballast you are using that you started with and then changed to and which pic's as reference? not to knock you because the tank rocks, but i think the colors in the dec 2007 are nicer because the pinks are still pink and you still have the red spectrum. i also like the initial picture but it's a bit harder to tell because the corals are smaller.

thanks

Thanks again!

I believe that is when I switched from 400W 10k bulbs on HQI ballasts plus 8 39W full spectrum T5s to 250W 14k bulbs on HQI ballasts and mixed in some actinic T5s. I eventually switched to the 400W Radiums since I love the colors and growth they produce. No worries about knocking me.....this is all personal preference. Some folks love 10ks while other are fans of 14k or 20ks. I personally felt the 10ks and even the 14ks to a degree had a bit too much white and yellow for my taste. The 20s really make things pop for me so that is what I like.

I should also mention that the photo progression makes the last 2 pictures look more blue since they are next to the photos with the whiter light. I don't think it looks as blue when you view the picture by itself or when you see it in person.

Very nice! How long have you had your Multibarred Angel for?
Around 3 months. Very cool fish.

got a question for you.. what are you using as a "clean up crew" also, are you willing to ship your frags?

I figured you still had that regal! I'm so jealous! Congrats on it eating so well for you!

I agree that bulb choices seem to be one of personal preference. I'm a radium 20k bulb man myself (granted 150W though). I just like the blues that it brings out. Of course, my sps are nothing compared to yours.

Thanks for the info!

I had the same question, Most very nice tanks like this one, are missing something that all of us have on the glass. SNAILS!!!!

How come I never see snails on tank shots of the TOTM tanks. Do you tell them to stay home and hide that day????

ALso, I notice you have zero coralline algae , this is good, allows the corals to benifit more and not let the coralline algae steal all of the calcium.

Thanks fishnub.

I don't have much in terms of a clean up crew...I have some turbos, nasarius (sp?) snails, and some hermit crabs....not a ton of them....

As for frags, I do ship every now and then.

Yep...don't have a ton of the snails....I also scrape the coraline off the back panel on a regular basis to allow those corals to pop against that black background!
