Full Tank Progression Shots

I have seen that video before, but the quality does not do his tank justice. His tank is a master piece amongst us reefers and it needs to be shared via a high quality video.

Bfg, reefbum had shown his euipments before. He was one of the TOM, check it out.

I gotcha now, you want a video more like the one on vivids site, that would be cool. One thing I did notice in reefbums video is that it looks like the chromis draw out the bartletts anthias. I also have a single bartletts and he usually hangs out in one corner unless it is feeding time. I may pick up a group of chromis to see if it draws him out more.

How's it going Reefman! Hasn't dropped by this thread for a long time. Give me some updated pictures my friend! ^_^ Also, where's that video you were working on huh! been looking forward to a quality video clip.
I know....I have to post some updated pics. I have been away a lot and just haven't had the time. In fact, I was away 9 straight days and had a few folks feeding the fish and watching the tank. I was certainly freaking out about the extended time away but I figured I would be ok monitoring things with my ACIII and webcam.

Well, there was a mishap and 2 of my 3 halides stayed on for 5 straight days! I should of realized something was going on because the temp chart on the ACIII Aquanotes software on my iPhone was essentially a straight line (no day/night peaks and valleys). I thought we just left the heat on in the house so I just dismissed it.

What happened was the wife misread the instructions I left and reset the light timer instead of hitting the feed mode button on my Vortech. A good number of my prized colonies got burned and even my Black Tang looked like hell with white blotches and scratch marks. However, I am happy to report that nearly everything has come back extremely well! Next time I will be checking that webcam when the light are supposed to be out as an additional check to make sure the timer is not malfunctioning.

Thanks! I don't have a high quality video cam so hopefully one day I can borrow one or have a friend take one.

Yes...I love large groups of Anthias and Chromis....really makes the tank look more colorful and natural

Thanks TommyA, Crazyc_625, Dave's Reef!

Reefbum. Your tank is by far one of the top tanks that I've ever seen. The colors are just jaw dropping and I'd hate to keep repeating but it is truly an inspiration. You must be very proud. I was wondering if you can take some time off to answer a couple of questions that would really help me

"¢what do you keep your phosphates at and do you use phosban or similar forms of removal?

"¢I noticed that you use coralife salt. Is this due to price or is this what works best for you? Have you used other salts

"¢I hope I'm not calling you out on this but I've read on other posts that you battled with aefw. I'm currently battling them in my tank and needed some advice on how to eradicate them. You mentioned that you used the turkey Baster method but with that many sps in the tank, how do you get them all with a turkey baster? Have you completely gotten rid of them? Please tell me experience with these devils

"¢have you ever faced unexplainable bouts of stn or rtn in your tank? Any huge problems with corals dying for no reason that you could pinpoint?

I know it's a lot of questions but I feel that to get the best advice you have to go to a trusted source. Thanks for your time

where did you get your corals?

where did you get your corals?

Beatiful tank with progression of tank. I have 300 g set up last Agu. I am adding sps a little by little. Do you have any suggestion how to add corals, what kinds of sps and where di d you get you sps? It seems you have variety beatiful corals? Where did you get them? do you prefer frags or colones?
Thanks, Ming

Thanks Tempset, cobra77, becon776, and eddie holland!

Many thanks Bolo Tran!.

In regard to phosphates, I have not tested for them in a long time but I do use a phosphate reactor and change out the media every 8 weeks. I do have some nuisance algea so I do have some phosphates but probably not much.

As for salt, I have been using Coralife for a while now and I do like it...the price is great as well. I have tried Tropic Marin Pro but I switched since it does have more phosphates than other salts. I am about to embark on an experiment with the newly released ESV salt to see if I can get even better results.

On the AEFW front, basting has worked really well for me. They only seem to like certain corals so I don't baste everything. From time to time I will notice a few but I keep them in check by basting weekly. Really no big deal in my mind and not worth having a heart attack if you find them in your tank.

Finally, I have experienced some stn in my tank but it has resulted from some alk swings. I almost lost a couple of sweet corals but I stabilized my alk and added some more flow to rectify the problem and save the colonies. In retrospect, I'm glad I had some patience and didn't start fragging up those colonies!

How long have you had your multibared angelfish? Does it nip?

-Dave
About 8 months and he does nip a bit on LPS and SPS....but no permanent damage as far as I can tell. A great fish!

Thanks Ming! I would do what you are doing and add corals slowly. Start with hardier ones such as montiporas and slowly work your way up to more demanding SPS once you achieve some success. Many of my colonies started as frags that I purchased from online vendors or hobbiests. I also bought a couple of small colonies from some LFS and Live Aquaria.

I won't lie your tank is the backdrop for my computer, lol...very nice
Thanks!

Here is a recent tank shot. I took out about 1/2 of the Green Bali Slimer....boy does that thing grow fast! I am thinking about taking out most if not all of the Pink Birdsnest in the center. Another weed
