Furan 2 dip schedule?

Should I dip my affected zoas three days in a row as recommended by zoaid or skip days then let them rest for a week? Three days in a row seems stressful to me. Any other tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks everyone

I do a long dip, rest for the whole week, start again after 1 week, 3 times. Pretty much 1 week rest between dips. that's just me.

I've also done the 3 dips, then rest 1 week, then 3 dips again etc..

Do you add a capsual to the tank for every 10 gal too or just dip them. I just found some on my zoa's and just got some furan in, but I'm not real sure how to use it.

I use to use capsuls, but api change to packets.

I'm trying the 1 time a week method, just to see if its not as harsh since I'm doing this on finicky Japanese deep waters. But I don't see anything wrong with the coralpedia treatment, its probably the most tried and proven treatment.

What I mean is do you add it directly to the tank to and dip or do you just dip? I have a box of 10 packets, but I don't know if I should also add a packet to the tnak for every 10 gallons I have.

What's the coralpedia treatment? I have read the treatment on zoaid.com, but it's alittle confusing since it give directions to add it to the tank, but later says they rinsed the zoa's in fresh water after the dip so that they didn't add any in the tank?

So you don't add it directly to the tank then? Have you had to use it before? How did it work for you?

When I read the zoaid.com article, it sounds to me like you actually mix one tablet (packet) of furan2 in a CUP of new saltwater, then put the infected zoa frag directly into the cup for 15-30 minutes. After treatment, you rinse off the frag with a second new cup of saltwater and put the frag back into the tank.

I'm assuming this only works for small plugs or frags of zoas. For larger colonies, you'd need to mix in buckets or something like the picture in the article.

To say the least, the article can be extremely confusing. Multiple methods are in there and they are just written together as one big article. Very hard to distinguish one technique from the other.

Here is what I plan to do with my one small plug of zoas that have pox:

- mix one tablet of furan2 into a new cup of saltwater (not tank water, brand new saltwater)
- drop the zoa frag into this cup for about 20 minutes
- remove the zoa frag from this cup and rinse it off with a second new cup of saltwater
- put zoa frag back into display tank.
- repeat process 2 more times over the next two days.

Sound right?

It sounds about right but I would use tank water. If you are using new mixed water, make sure you get the PH the same as your tank water.

Yeah, I'm sure the ph levels would be very similar, since my tank hovers around where fresh mixed saltwater does anyway. Since the step by step on zoaid.com states using new saltwater multiple times, I'm going to go with that.

I use tank water as it helps me do a water change at the same time.

+1

1cup 1 packet, mix well.

toss zoas into it, 15-20 min.

I do 15 for first shot.

then 20 the following 2 days.

rinse off with water of same temp or tank water, and toss back into your display.

this is of course IMO my method of furan2.

I did 30 minutes the first day, and I used tank water instead of new water and then tank water to rinse. I have two small frags with a few small spots and then a colony with tons of spots all over 1/8 or so of the colony.

Hopefully this works and clears my tank. Has anyones came back on them or has it stayed gone?

For the most part it has cured them completely, it just depends on the severity of the infection. I lost 1 colony that I was treating, it was so covered, it was too little too late for me (I did manage to frag a few polyps off before the colony melted though)

It looks like the three days in a row in starting to show results.. how long do i wait between treatment? is it the rest of the week (four days) or give them a full seven days. Thanks

I waited 5 day. Give it 4-5 days rest, take a look at how they are doing, it may have cleared up by then. If not, give them another dip aas needed.
