Gastropod

Is this guy good/bad? I'm really doubting that he's an algae eater. I also noticed that some of my tube corals look like they been crunched (eaten). Definitely different than bleaching. Since I don't really feed the tank very often (no fish), my little serpent star also seems suspect.

Have one also ... even had babies (but triggerfish took care of that!) .. Believe full name is family Muricidae (subclass Prosobranchia of the class Gastropoda). Don't think it has gotten any snails as it hardly moves and if it does, it isn't much.

Can't do much damage if it doesn't move!!!!!!!!!! Also just saw another teenie little one, less than 1cm ... have to do more research to see if they go asexual and what kind of reproductive cycle they have...

Yeah, sometimes mine sits in one area for awhile, sometimes it moves around quite a bit. Don't want to risk it though when putting in corals/clams/etc.

Has never bothered any of my corals (as far as I know or can tell) and I have no clams. The triggerfish that I moved took care of all the snails, so really don't know about that, but while they were both in there, no snails with holes in their shells ... just upside down from where the fish and then the peppermint shrimp got them

*nods* But as I mentioned above, something is eating my tube corals :P I could try feeding the tank a little more and hopefully it'll stop...it may not be the gastropod in the first place anyways.

What size is ur tank and what do you have in it? (should put something in your signature so people have a starting guess :-)

Better? ;)

There are no fish in the Tampa Bay Saltwater tank. Unfortunately I move at the end of the month, which is going to be a major pain in the.... So I'm waiting until after that to put something in. It only has what came with the package and some pulsing xenia stuff I threw in.
