Gateway Aquatic

Two very possible examples there.

The first one - not everyone is computer literate.....so you'd also have to have the books. A lot more people are able to read.

Example 2 - Is kind of already in effect. Certain stores will look on their order sheets and see how much they can buy stuff for. If they were showing them what website they order it from then they MAY lose business that way as the customer can pass the information along to other consumes.

chad did someone buy a angel from you that owned a pet store over the weekend
Yes !

I still think a cigar bar would be good. You already have the humidor built into the store.

For the information cards I was imagining the most popular items would have one, and then the less common items that aren't always stocked if a customer wanted, you could look them up in a book.

And if you wanted to take it a step further, you could put the same info on your webpage so people could do their research from home.

And just having a book available is a good idea, but the customers have to know about it, where as if the cards are hanging infront of the tanks, they see them. And a little sign by the tanks stating that there is a refernce book available would be good too.

Stuff happens in saltwater, you can't hold anyone liable.
Famous last words. In today's society, ANYONE can be sued for ANY reason.

Reference guides are nice having handy, but having knowledgeable employees is the main idea. The way it looks, it looks like that is going to be the stores drawing point.

The informational cards don't sound like a bad idea but take up space. All you need to see is the name maybe go a step further scientific name and price.

Dennis, I was talking about a 3x5 or 4x6 notecard, cover it with a bit of mylar tape for waterproofing. How much room could that and a thumbtack take up?

Instead of a thumbtack, get small metal pic frame without the glass and drop the card in it.

But you'd have a card for each fish and coral that he carries? That's a heck of alot of cards. I'd prefer honest, knowledgable staff with available reference materials for things they might not know by heart, or for customers who would like to look for themselves. Available reference books to purchase as well. Perhaps the staff having suggested websites for people to go home and peruse.

Jeffo65 - There is a significant difference between the ability to sue anyone and the ability to hold anyone liable. Try not to fall for all of the hype about ridiculous lawsuits being filed all over the place - they are largely fictitious. No attorney ever got rich filing frivolous lawsuits! Its a great way to go broke but never to get rich!

Rob, I think that you may just be in a group of ethical attorneys. No one gets through school with unethical thoughts or they wouldn't be able to handle the school load but many many get out and change their goals. I've had many calls from personal injury attorneys, even some big well known ones in town w/o saying names, that call to tell me "Mr X is going to be calling to make an appointment, I'm sure that you will find X condition and need at least Y amount of treatment and I'm sure the bill will be between 2500-3500". I'm pretty sure that's asking for me to be a partner in crime with them. They don't send anymore clients when I send them off from lack of objective findings. Sometimes they're pretty close to being right and that may be from years of seeing the same type accident/complaints but I tend to be a little suspicious especially when they send over a non injured client. Maybe the client was pulling one on them but wouldn't they try to continue the act, especially with the one going to substantiate their injury?

Rob,

I totally agree with you. But it only takes one person. Who ever thought coffee could be to hot? It probably would never happen, but never is a long time.

Jeff

My coffee BETTER be HOT!!! I noticed that they freaked out for awhile and the coffee was luke warm but it's hot again the last time I bought one.

Sorry guys but you are not familiar with the facts of the McDonalds case. First off, McDonalds required that its coffee be served 40 degrees hotter than the temperature used in the industry - 190 degrees! McDonalds expert testified that at that temperature it was "unfit for human consumption" and that at that temperature it would cause a full thickness burn (burn through all three layers of skin) within 6 seconds! The reason for the coffee being served at that temperature was two fold: first because having it at that temperature kept customers from drinking too much of it (had to wait for it to cool off before they could drink it) and second, they could use slightly less coffee grounds in making the coffee.

The other thing that people don't seem to understand is that the amount of the punitive damages was exactly 2 days worth of gross worldwide coffee sales. In other words that is how much coffe McDonalds sold every 2 days. It was a very measured response to a method of serving coffee that was unreasonably dangerous!

I would also point out that McDonalds had been having a ton of people suffering from these types of accidents and all the plaintiff asked for initially $11,000 and McDonalds decided to tell her to get lost.

Last but not least, the media never bothered to report that the trial judge took away the punitive damage award that everyone was all worked up about so that supposedly outrageous amount recovered was never recovered.

Besides - have you ever burned your crotch?

have I ever dared put some scolding hot liquid between my legs?

^^^ I wish there wasn't such a thing as punative damages... and no such thing as a warning lable... bring back comon sense and a sense or responsibilty for your own stupid actions

I like the simpsons where Homer paints bunny faces on the electrical outlets so Maggie wont stick her fingers in them.

Marge goes, "Homer Maggie isn't afraid of Bunnies,"
Homer says in that angry shaky voice. "She will be."
