Nice video. Thanks for posting.
I purchased some of Walt Smith's first cultured live rock when I started reefing. It still makes up the majority of rock in my current tank.

Makes one think that what were doing as hobbyist is kinda selfish. Aquaculture must take a major role in reefing if it is going to survive long term. As we get better as Stuart's of our living hobby the best we can do for it is frag, and share with friends so that less reefs are destroyed

This also kind of strengthens my resolve to make my own rock... plus it seems kinda fun, not to mention its CHEAP!

Yeah, I made a bunch of rock but I didn't love the way it looked. I have 17 lbs of actual live rock in my tank and 20 lbs of texas holey rock/lace rock in it right now. I like the way it looks and seems to be porus and diverse in color. I may use the diy rock in the sump for filtration instead of putting it in the DT. There is a part one and two to that video also on you tube talking more about collecting fish. basically talked me out of buying a flame angel after I saw it! Not even sure if I can buy a non aquacultured fish anymore, well I guess well see tonight because the jungle had a coral beauty I had my eye on last time i was in there!

Yeah, I had a suicidal wrasse this weekend... its amazing how small of a hole a fish will get through... Found him behind the aquarium baked to the carpet.

But, what better time than right before an LFS meeting I suppose.

It makes me wonder, just how many times, our fish smack themselves into the glass tops each night......without finding that 'ever elusive escape hole'.

I often wonder the same thing, Mark.

I had found him in the overflow twice. This made me think that maybe all of the salt creep on my light reflectors could be from him! (my lights are literally RIGHT on top of the water)

Placing artificial rock in the ocean is an awesome idea and have it turn into live rock

Makes me wna buy more figi live rock beore they ban it
