GBTA moving to top of aquarium

I bought a GBTA last week and it has moved all around my aquarium to only find it spot in top back corner of my tank. (all the way to the surface.) obviously not desirable.

In the last week it has gotten bigger and brighter than at the LFS, but I am just wondering if I have my light too high?

water perameters are good (everyone always wants to know)

44g
250W DE MH about 12-14" off the water surface

my false percs are soooo close to hopping into it. They swim right to it then quickly turn away....all day......frustrating :)

let me know what you think...

if you direct a powerhead at it,or across the top of tank,it'll move down..they tend to not like direct flow.

do you think it is going to top to seek light?

although I have noticed only 25% of it is in the light the other 75% is hidden underneath my filter.

let me know your thoughts on that. because if it wants light i will give it light....

do you think that it is seeking more light? I can lower the MH if this is the case.

I will also move the powerhead and see what happens

I have 3 BTA's in my tank, and one of the 3 is obviously chasing flow.
It went to the top, and that could have been taken for chasing light, yet it then traveled across the top and right in front of a PH, where it gets blasted, and thats where it chose to stay.
It's so weird to me, cause I've always assumed heavy flow would make them move as well, but not in this case.
They are all animals w/ different needs or "personalities" that can be tough to figure out sometimes.

that is exactly what mine is doing it is chasing the flow of the filter return......the top of the BTA is getting hit by a lot of water return

Yeah, it's so weird, cause after all these years I've gotten pretty good at guessing where to place my nems.
2 have stayed right where I put them, and that one just traveled straight to heavy flow, go figure.

Good comment on the flow, I have two GBTA and one is perfectly happy sitting in a lower flow area. While the other (which split from the first) picked a spot with much more flow. The thing looks like its going to blow away :)
