gcarroll' 260g SPS reef

Greg, I too like the ati hybrid! But for now I am sticking with my 400 watt radium and I love it. :)
I dont have quite the heat here in Ohio that you have out west though.
In your list of potential options, I dont see the reefbreeders LED's, any particular reason. Many ppl seem to like them and the fact the diodes are spread out is a nice feature.

The Geisemann Spectra is what I'm looking at for MH. I prefer the 250w Radion over the 400w version. I've used both and just prefer the way the corals responded and PAR is pretty close on them. I'm pretty burned out on MH though and just wanted to try something new.

When I lived in Corona, I ran 3 - 400w MH without a chiller so I don't think I will have much issue with heat as it is much cooler in the OC.

I did not consider Reef Breeders as I prefer to stick with larger established companies. Reef Breeders has a lot of followers but i't really am not a fan. I prefer LEDs that have a path to upgrade and GHL and Ecotech have shown that their lights have had this ability.

I understand wanting to try new things. I did hat awhile back with rapidled kits and it was okay. For me, I like the simplicity of halide. But that doesn't mean I don't like the sleek look of some other units out there. I really like the orpheks myself. But I also like The GHL as well. I like the more spread out pucks over the radion, and the added controllability (if I even used it) but you can't argue with the success of the radion and the pre programmed light schedules to take the guess work out of which colors need to be where.
Maybe one day I'll come back over to led side.
Can't wait to see your progress on this tank!

Went by the house today. Wiring for the aquarium outlets has been completed. Although it seems like it's going slow, realize that Theo whole house is being remodeled, not just this room. I'm shocked at how fast the remodel is coming along!

Got great news from the general contractor today. Electrical panel will be done Saturday. I was thinking we were still at least 2-3 weeks out for that.

Well crap, I just move out to the I.E. and you move to orange..... are you avoiding me?

Congrats on the new home, it looks beautiful. :)

Very nice Greg. What other equipment will you be running? ie. pumps, skimmers, powerhead, reactors?

At least your tank will be up before Cody's. :D

Thanks, Unfortunately, the money is running out quickly. Not going to be exactly what we wanted but we will make do!
That's the way it goes. I build custom homes... well I do the structured cableing and or electrical and I have noticed over the decades that remodel projects generaly run 30% over time and over projected budget. I have only seen a few exceptions to that rule of thumb.

So far Mike, this is what is planned.

skimmer - Vertex Alpha 300
sump - Vertex Supra
circulation pumps - 2 Tunze stream 3's and 2 Tunze 6095s
chiller/heater/UV sterilizer - Teco
calcium reactor - Vertex
controller - Apex Gold (unless I get a new Apex)
lights - undecided
