Gen 2 melted face plate?

I have a Gen 1 Vortech that was upgraded to a Gen 2. I just came home and found my wetside of the vortech laying on the bottom of my tank. When I took it apart there are deep gouges in the back plate/magnet and the hole where the bushing sits is melted?? There was never any issue with noise of vibrations!

I am not sure if that is the same problem or not. The washers that I have are pretty thin. It looks like the ceramic bearing spun loose and melted the case. I'll post a pic as soon as I dig up my camera...

I had the same problem you are speaking of, the ceramic bearing spun loose and melted through the base plate. I contacted Echotech and they sent me a new base plate and bearing to fix it.
